Whitney Houston’s highly-anticipated comeback performance has finally been announced. December 1st is the date. And…..Kuala Lumpur is the place. Sorry. She’ll put on an hour long performance during Malaysia’s huge Live & Loud Music festival (also featuring K-Ci & JoJo, Kool & the Gang, Dionne Warwick, James Ingram, and Mint Condition. Hmmmmm.), and had the kindness of heart to film this brief video telling us all about it.
"Hmmmm" is right, Stereohyped! What's this stage sharing? If we're gonna see Whitney, we want to see Whitney, not Whitney and people whose careers faded light years ago. This does not bode well…

At least Whitney doesn't look anorexic any more.
I think she'll be right at home with the people whose careers faded light years ago! Fits right in.
Actually this is a smart move. In places like Maylasia, they appreciate great music. Many places in Asia play old music as if its a new hit. It is the US who is quick to label and toss out in an obsession with whos hot and whos not which may explain some of the crap that exists in music today. Whitney hasnt performed in a quite a while. She must ease her way. If she is rusty, it will fare better there than the US where she will be eaten alive by sick people who love to tear down to make themselves feel better about there own pathetic shallow souless and unfulfilled lives. Great way to a comeback trail Whitney!
As for stage sharing. She did that at the Olympics. She's done that at Awards shows, She's done that on film, She's done that when she was in her hey day. She did that on Vh1 Divas. Its nothing new. She is sharing the stage with some class acts and an hour of it is to herself. Its not like she has joined a musical group. Come on! Besides, if she tears the house down, it will clearly allude to her being the bigger star which she is and it will work in her favor.
I think the "stage sharing" issue is more along the lines of who she's on stage with. KC & the Sunshine Band might be fun, but they are a nostalgia act. I still have hope that Whitney has some new life in her & doesn't get stuck on some awful "I Luv the 80's" tour.
Oops. Make the Kool and the Gang. Same thought, though.
I bet her and Dionne smoke up before the show.
I dont get it. She's a featured act. Why is anyone implying as if she is going to be performing WITH Kool and the Gang as a Group. Do you guys really think that Clive Davis would allow her to do this if he didn't think it was wise. I think he knows what he's doing.Clive is investing alot in her and you are underestimating Malaysia and western interest in performing there. B list arists cannot command the standing ovation that Whitney just recieved from making simply an appearance at the Fashion Rocks show last month. B listers just don't command that type of attention. Whitney still makes people jump to their feet on just walking out onto stage. To note….Beyonce and Mary J are 2 of the hottest current acts and both did the Essence Music Festival that featured many past rnb greats who are no longer releasing big hits. Its a music festival inst it. Its all about how its done.
Give Whitney a break. This is a show being organised in Malaysia to celebrate their 50th anniversary They invited top acts of the past and present and Whitney is one of them.
I happy to see the good things that are happening to Whitney.
I just came from the concert, and I cried. Ms Houston has lost it.
I blogged the concert.
