I’m getting so, so tired of reading these proclamations from the Catholic Church to their followers about how they are duty bound to fight same-sex marriage. Like that Texas reverend who insisted all Catholics must fight abortions and legal recognition of gay unions. And now there’s Costa Rica’s bishops, publishing guidelines that are so generic and banal even the church’s most rabid homophobes must be bored by them. “On putting the union between persons of the same sex on equal juridical conditions to that of marriage or the family, the state acts arbitrarily and enters into contradiction with its own duties.” Oh WHATEVER! Didn’t your ancestors write the Bible? Show some creativity! At least that Mexican guy was able to make us laugh with his decaffeinated coffee joke.

Why Do Catholic Warnings Against Gay Marriage Make Such Boring Reads?

The article at http://www.zenit.org/article-30274?l=english stated, “And they concluded by urging the members of Congress, ‘in particular those who vouch for their faith in Christ,’ ‘to consecrate themselves with sincerity, rectitude, charity and fortitude to the mission entrusted to you by the people, that is, to legislate on the basis of ethical principles and in benefit of the common good.'”
Since members of congress have been entrusted “by the people” to follow the U.S Constitution, and the First Amendment prohibits the establishment of a state religion, it follows that “sincerity, rectitude, charity and fortitude” means ignoring the Catholic Church’s theology in making decisions.
I.e., they should repeal DOMA and leave it to churches to decide what they wish to “sanctify” as it is none of the state’s business (and vice versa).

@B: The members of Costa Rica’s Congress haven’t been “entrusted “by the people” to follow the U.S Constitution.” 😛

“so many christians…so few lions”
Queer Supremacist
@Soupy: Forcing a lion to eat a Christian is cruelty.
To the lion.

The romans had it right – bring back the lions. Unfortunately the lions didnt eat the romans, who joined with the church to give us a 1000 year dark ages of zero social and economic progress.
A university study said that except for the church, we would most likely have had the internet by 1600
But we didn’t. And a nurologist told me recently that until modern medicine started in the early 1900s, the average life span was about 4x years.
That means that the church for about 300 years condemned billions to die perhaps 30 years early.
And they dare talk about abortion – their smokescreen to hide their evil and endless crimes against humanity.
