Hotelier Doug Manchester, who donated $125,000 to support Prop 8, tried to make amends with the gays by offering $100k in hotel vouchers and $25k in gay organization donations. The make-good didn't work, and a boycott of Manchester's hotels — including the enormous Manchester Grand Hyatt — remains in effect. And yet there Manchester still stands, fulfilling his two-year term on the California Travel and Tourism Commission's board, a position Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger gave him. A state facing a $40 billion budget crisis that already eschewed gay wedding dollars should not, perhaps, have a discriminatory hotel magnate be the one responsible for luring tourist cash.

I'm torn on this. Do I like what he stands for? Obviously not! Do I think he should be able to be on the board despite his personal views? I sort of do. If you could prove he was using his office to work against gays and lesbians, I would by all means want to see him gone, but until then, although I find his views morally bankrupt, I respect his right to have those views.
