THE SHOT – While some gents have been oozing over bisexual Tom Hardy playing Batman’s ‘roided up nemesis the in The Dark Knight Rises, the ladies have straight ally Anne Hathaway to look forward to done up in black leather as Catwoman. Hathaway’s no Halle Berry, but hopefully this movie is no Catwoman either—Halle notoriously won a “Razzie Award” for worst actress in the 2007 Catwoman film. And while Hathaway looks great, where are her whiskers and Hello kitty ears?

But seriously why does Christopher Nolan suck so much at casting female roles? When Katie Holmes is the best you’ve done it’s a sign that you need better casting directors. What was Charlize Theron doing that made her unavailable?

The look sucks ass. I can’t tell if that’s Marvel’s “Black Widow” or Uma Thurman as Emma Peel. Aside from the catsuit…there is nothing to suggest that it’s Catwoman. And what’s up with the 3D glasses? At least they could have made her night vision goggles look more feline in shape. And there’s nothing sexy about Anne, she is cute and goofy at best. Hathaway might not be Nolan’s choice. Sometimes to get the leads, script, and money you want, a director has to make concessions—like casting a rom-com actress like Hathaway as Catwoman. The studio probably thinks they’ll pull in the female viewers with her. And her agents want her to get in on the whole action-genre thing. Nolan’s hand mightve been forced.

As for Catwoman it’s becoming more and more evident that the character is just not really that necessary. Michelle Pfeiffer did a great job playing that psychology tortured, neither good or bad persona. I just hope Anne’s voice doesn’t grate on me during this movie as it normally does.

I’m withholding judgement. I remember when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker in The Dark Knight, it seemed like almost everybody was saying the movie would suck/bomb/etc. And then what happened? Those same people were saying that Heath was amazing and that The Dark Knight was one of the best movies of the year. It’s like deja vu all over again with The Dark Knight Rises. It seems like so many are ready to write this movie off as sucking/bombing/etc., and all we’ve seen are some out of context pics. I think that this pic of AH might be before she takes on the Catwoman persona, and there are more pics over at Huffington Post that show she’s on the Batpod while a big fight is going on between Batman, Bane, the police and Bane’s goons. So who knows what’s happening and when it’s happening in the movie. I, for one, can’t wait to see how this movie turns out, and I’m intrigued by this pic of AH. Can’t wait for next summer!

I’m sorry but it needs to be said that Nolan sucks at casting women in the batman movies. Katie Holmes, Maggie Gyllenhal, and now Anne Hathaway as Catwoman? Bullshit….. Batgirl sure but FUCKING CATWOMAN?!?!?! Charlize Theron tried out for the role but she didn’t get it, Nolan has to be smoking something.
