Jeremy Walters, the Republican hoping to unseat Rep. Kevin McCarthy in Iowa, is very sorry he spent so many words on Facebook quoting the Bible. Also, for using those quotes to attack gays.
After posting these things:

“I am not against people having a gay lifestyle, and the statements made on Facebook have been taken the wrong way,” says Waters in a statement. “The statement regarding gay homosexuality was not meant to be offensive and I deeply appologize. As far as the quote from Bible; I was replying to someone elses post. It should have been posted as a comment on their page, not my Facebook wall. I appologize for the mistake and if this statement offened anyone. Both postings have been removed and these comments do not pertain to my campaign or the Republican Party of Iowa. My passion is to listen and learn from the people so I can represent them at the statehouse. Everyone makes mistakes, please forgive me.”
So there you have it: Waters doesn’t mind your “lifestyle”; everyone misinterpreted what he was saying; and he doesn’t know how to use Facebook all that well, so he’s sorry for that etiquette “mistake.” Also, he initially said he wouldn’t remove the postings, but has since deleted him. Now what does the Bible say about lying again?
The same passage also says you should be put to death for eating shellfish. And disobeying your parents. I don’t mind being executed but I think we need to start with all the little brats and shellfish eaters first and once we’ve eliminated them all (I’m assuming that’s only tens of millions of kids and adults sinning in this manner in the US) I’ll happily submit to stoning.
But they go first.

Yeah I’m not sure what’s more upsetting here. A person running for serious office that quotes the bible, or his laughable grammar. Or the completely ignorant/arrogant statements about non-believers. How did this guy get close to running for office, it’s baffling. Getting closer every day here to moving to Canada when I have the opportunity.

He said his statement was not meant to offend, and apologizes for the offense. He also apologizes for posting it in the wrong place. But, I don’t see a retraction of the actual statement, or any expression of a contrary belief.
How could anyone with half a mind ever believe that putting tens of thousands of people to death would not be offensive to those people?
The “apology” is clearly political damage-control. The original statement clearly reflects his actual beliefs. Because of that, the original statement should be taken as a “policy plank” of his platform. If elected, he clearly will act on his actual beliefs, and not on his pre-election political posturing.
I wonder if the people of Iowa know that Jeremy Walters wants to put tens of thousands of people to death, just because of who they are.

DEU 21:20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a gluttonous drunkard.”
21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge
the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.
