Will Portugal’s President Sign This Gay Marriage Bill?

Unlikely. Though the Parliament just passed a final bill to legalize same-sex marriage, President Anibal Cavaco Silva (pictured), a Roman Catholic and member of the Social Democratic Party, has already declared his opposition. Will that even matter? Prime Minister Jose Socrates, who controls the legislature and promised to pass marriage legislation if re-elected, says he can bust a veto.
