According to Politico totally not gay Texas Governor Rick Perry will announce his bid for president this Saturday in South Carolina. This just after a weekend of praying alongside people who blame gays for the Holocaust and Hurricane Katrina. Let’s hope those gay rumors about Perry turn out to be true! That would make for a feisty primary!

What a FREAK SHOW the Republican Party has become! 40 years ago NONE of the current crop of GOP candidates would have been given a microphone at a Republican convention. They would have been laughed off the stage. Yet today, they are all the Republican Party has!

As a Texan, all I can say is I am sorry….again.
Please forgive us for we know not what we do.

Perry has never lost an election. For a moron, he has a remarkable political record.
The Texas Hee Haws love him and reelect him over and over. I don’t pretend to understand Taliban Texas except to say I wish they would secede from the Union and leave the rest of us alone.

@christopher di spirito: Taliban Texas…and Texas Hee Haws…..love that..
Can I steal it?

@Jack E. Jett: Of course. :-)

Texas was its own Republic for a time, I wish they’d consider secession yet again.
Perry, per numerous reports, is 100x smarter than GW was, and much more politically savvy. Translation? Much more cunning and able to appear as moderate or as rightwing as he needs to be, depending on which way the wind blows and what Jesus tells him to do.
Scary man. Frightful times…

When his alleged bisexuality becomes talk fodder, Rick Perry may well re-consider his decision to run. There are very strong rumors circulating about his alleged affairs with men only recently. This is allegedly not a thing he did many years ago.

Texas bashing is old and lame. You don’t bash the states Bachmann or Santorum or Brownback came from, right?
Perry bashing, on the other hand, is amply justified. Bash away. I wouldn’t vote for him if he blew all the other candidates on national TV. (I would probably enjoy it, though.)

@Tom in Lazybrook: Perry won reelection in 2006 with a whopping 39% of the vote? So, you’re saying another candidate garnered 61% of the vote but they still awarded Perry with the keys to the governors mansion? I know Tejas is like a “whole other country,” but you’re saying the candidate with the least amount of votes wins office? Please explain the election process in Tejas.

If the American populace is fool enough to put another right-wing Texas governor into the White House, forgetting everything the last one is responsible for, we deserve whatever happens to us.
