A virologist that I know, and I, had a discussion one day and the issue of how many married men were hooking up with other men behind their Wives or Girlfriend’s back is astonishing. The internet, Grindr, Craigslist etc. He told me that he had just gotten back from a conference in Philly on HIV related issues and pharmaceuticals and the group with the fastest growing rate of HIV infections is straight women. It really is sad. This article, although probably fictitious, could have prompted a really thoughtful discussion of a major source of pain that is sometimes inflicted in the coming out process. Instead, the discussion here is one large contretemps of who can justify the most misogyny, or the most useless facts they have gleaned from their interest in ‘scientism’. There is, if anyone is interested, large amounts of literature, on issues of viral evolution, cultural conceptions of sexual identity, critical discussion of the assemblage of ‘risk groups’ etc. Seriously, it is all available at the library of any university or community college. Try it some time, you know, peer reviewed articles, by legitimate researchers and medical and social scientists, not NYT best seller pop-psychology babble, mangled and abstracted to extrapolate a point which affirms your pre-conceived bias. I really thought this would be a real post on a painful experience, that sadly is probably much too common. Instead this was just an excuse for a score settling, of long standing grudges on here. This discussion could have been a synthesis of ideas that people could have walked away from, applicable in everyday life to try to alleviate some pain in the world. I shall not even comment on the sociopath, who dreams women have some large tangible power, that I nor probably anyone else who is not on medication could observe, that they are using in some alternate reality to subordinate men. I would love to hear a quantification of this power? Is it political? commercial? social? mystical? I honestly mean it, please define and quantify this phantom power. What women really fear in being married to a man who can swing both ways is losing their power over him. A woman loses her power whenever a man turns his desires from her to another man.
If you tell a woman that her husband has desires for women’s bodies, she’ll accept it. If you tell her that her husband might have desires for women’s bodies other than hers, she might throw a fit or two but she’ll ultimately accept that too.
However, if you tell a woman that her husband has desires for men’s bodies, she will most likely file for a divorce…and that’s even without him actually physically fulfilling such desires. Liberal women in particular would react by filing for divorce
