Wondering What Day You Can Get Gay Married In Iowa?

iowamap

It's April 27 — at the earliest. But we're certain you've already registered for your big day!

Interestingly, given the Iowa Supreme Court's mandate that same-sex couples be granted equal marriage rights within 21 days, the first day should have been April 24, but because budget cuts forced state employees to take that Friday off, we'll have to wait till Monday to bother the county clerk.

See the economic trouble you find yourself in when you don't allow same-sex marriages to boost state revenues? (Only kidding. Sort of.)

First of all quit calling it "gay marriage" we haven't been fighting this hard for a special brand of marriage. We want marriage equality.

I agree with Raven! "Gay marriage" is the term — especially with the quotation marks around it — that the conservatives love to use to scare people and keep them riled up. When my wife and I legally married in California, we were married: period!

I agree that it should just be called 'marriage but isn't the author using the term in a satrical manner? I find it hilarious and can imagine the person being sarcastic when using the term…thogu maybe that's just me and we should stick to marriage for all.

I see the obvious problems with calling it gay marriage (obvi lesbians are included, just to start) but come on, let's be realistic. Calling marriage between to individuals identified as being of a different race is still called "interracial marriage." It doesn't diminish the marriage. The laws banning it did. Indeed, by using the term, conservatives have already conceded the fight, in the long run. They've acknowledged that our committed relationships sealed before a court/God are in fact marriages.
