The AP, BBC and other English language news sources (not to mention gay blogs) are just now reporting about the disgusting sentence given to 8 Senegalese men who were jailed for 8 years for being homosexual, three years longer than the already inhumane mandated sentence.
As a Queerty reader, you knew about it two days ago.

File that under "About Fucking time!"
At least the BBC has reported it. But, so far, not one British newspaper !!
I have just done a very quick search of US news sites and:
NY Times – nothing
Washington Post – YES.
CNN – nothing
Los Angeles Times – nothing
this topic might have been slightly relevant if the author had opted to take some stance as to what this implies about the 'english language' press. Or comented on the overwhelming apathy of the 'west' when it comes to Africa as echoed by the comments on the post in question. Highlighting this might have shed some light on the apathy of organisations like the un on issues regarding the HUMAN RIGHTS of the queer community as most gross violations of these human rights usualy take place in third world countries
and i see this statement as an indictment of the state of mainstream media generally, and in regards to human rights, gay rights, specifically.
it is also why i spend upwards of four hours a day scanning a host of websites, including some i don't really like, because no one source can truly keep one well informed.
thank you for doing your part, queerty. and thank you to all my fellow readers whose varied interests and contacts are often the source of these stories as well as add context in the comments
@thats_so_queer:
Nice job, you figured it out for yourself.
