You’ll Soon Be Able to Spit Out Your Gum, Dispose of Starbucks Cup Next to Neil Patrick Harris

Neil Patrick Harris and Melissa Etheridge will be among 30 new stars (who paid to) appear on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced. It’s no accident these five-pronged sidewalk plaques are pink, ya know.

Their fan clubs pay for the Stars…and of course it should be that way.

It would be ridiculous to have the city pay for it, no matter what economical climate (city money should go to schools and that stuff).

Perhaps you should know a bit about what you are talking about before you speak. Yes their is a fee for the star but that fee has nothing to do with the selection process. Recipients are picked annually out of over 200 nominations, and the fee that is paid only at the time of the ceremony covers the actual cost of the star, the ceremony itself and the balance is put in a trust that maintains the walk of fame.
Think of the walk as a giant tourism attraction (actually it is the #1 draw of tourist in Hollywood) that no one ever pays a dime to visit, take photos of or spit their gum on. The trust is set up to help keep it clean.
To be clear, no one can buy a star and if you think I’m wrong I encourage you to try it.
