Your Lust Is Only Part Of The Reason Ben Cohen Fights Homophobic Bullying

My dad was killed trying to protect someone being beaten up, bullied. I’m not into gay rights. It’s about bullying, about people perceived to be different. - Heterosexual ex-rugby player and now founder of the Stand Up Foundation, Ben Cohen, speaking at London Pride this weekend. Cohen’s father died in a hospital from injuries he sustained while trying to protect a man who was being beaten.

Why do we constantly spit on or try to question the motives (or sexuality) of our str8 allies. We need more like Ben helping us. I have a ton of respect for the guy, he has always been open and accepting of his gay fans over the years. He’s not just jumping on a bandwagon – he’s the real deal.

@tazz602: My guess would be its out of frustration. Many of us are frustrated that the people that actually matter (those who have actual names and money in our communities) are still hidden in the closet. Instead of attacking those people, we attack the straight people that are actually helping us because we do not view it as being part of their fight.
