Zac Efron on turning down a role in Footloose, which is said to now be on Chace Crawford’s plate: “I’m sure Footloose would have been a huge challenge but the actors that I love and the actors that work really hard in this industry are always shaking things up, trying new genres, acquiring new skill sets. That’s what’s always going to appeal to me: the unknown.”
Haha. “The unknown.” Oh, Zefron, you are TOO CUTE. [EW
Good for him, I hope he does branch out a little.
·
The sky is the limit for Zac. Footloose wasn’t a good fit for his career at the moment.
·
Then we’re in agreement. Because I don’t want him to sing and dance for me anymore either.
·
No singing, please, but I really don’t mind if he wants to dance for me.
·
@osocubano: Hahaha! I bet we can all teach him a thing or two!
·
I’ll take Chase over Zac any day, so. It just sucks that literally nobody I know will want to see this movie with me.
·
I think they should get Paul McGill to play the role. Chase can’t sing or dance, but Paul starred on Broadway, and plays a dancer in Fame! And he kinda has a Zac look (but a better body!!) My vote is for Paul.

Zac is actually intelligent and wants to do genuine acting. I think just like Depp and Pitt, he wants to be something besides a tween idol. More power to him. In this photo, there is less makeup and primping. He looks great w/o it. My dar still pings, though.

The remarks on this board are hysterical……catch your breath guys and then see where he is in a year or so…..most likely on an episode of “Whatever Happened To….?”
Christ, the kid is certainly a tasty treat, but let’s not confuse looks with talent….
·
@Bill in PDX: Can you please send me what you are smoking? I, too would like to live in an alternate universe.
·
I’m totally amused by the fact that Crawford and Efron are near-perfect substitutes for each other.
·
@Paul: So Zac is a has-been in two years? That’s a foolish prediction.
Zac’s star will only glow brighter. I know a worthless celebrity when I see one and he’s a cut above. He’s smart, talented, extremely handsome, white, charming, focused, confident and has a good relationship with his mother. It’s hard for any person or thing to stop that combination.
·
@Michael W.: ROTFLMAO……you’re ridiculous. I’m not sure what’s funnier – what you wrote or that you actually believe it. Either way, put your poster of Zac away, wash your hands and move along….
·
@Joeb1212: Really someone who has millions of international fans, is obviously attractive, can sing, dance and sell out at the box office is going to be a has been in two years? Really? Really? I am not a fan of the Disney dreck but I have seen interviews. He is charming, bright and humble.. I am in an alternate universe whenever i post any comment here. Anything positive said about anything or anybody gets shot down by legions of bitter Queens. Mock him– he is well liked and a millionaire and you and I and these others are sparring over him and he could care less… Sad, huh?
·
I really do not understand his allure. In my opinion, FUGLY and untalented. No, not a bitter old queen; in my early twenties and not too bad looking (even if I do say so myself).
·
Efron isn’t that great as a dancer. If you look at High School 3 his feet are all over the place and he wouldn’t know a line unless he was crucified to a set-square. But if you look back over most of his work so far, the lad is a capable actor and he’s getting better. And if he’s basing his career on Depp’s moving from 21 Jump Street into credible acting opportunities, then he’s nobody’s fool. He’s not tall and he’s happily aging out off his teenage looks at a natural, normal rate – so more power to him if he wants to earn his chops as an actor rather than simply trading off his looks and one role that made him famous. I’m actually interested in what he does next because he has skill as an actor and seems to be prepared to work on his core strengths rather than the PR spin stuff.
·
@ LP….yeah, Efron does nothing for me and I’m in my twenties as well. I’m not going to toot my own horn. He just looks fake to me…..and he could be the nicest guy in the world. The only thing I would say are the color of his eyes are nice. He just needs to do something. Either with his hair or his style.

I can teach him some things he doesn’t know…
