Zoliswa Nkonyana’s Accused Murderers Caught After Escaping South African Jails

Sicelo Mase, 18, Zolile Kobese, 18, Sabelo Yekiso, 18, and Mfundo Kulani, 19 — all suspects in the murder of Zoliswa Nkonyana (pictured), the South African lesbian chased, pelted with bricks, and beaten to death with a golf club in 2006 for being a lesbian — were arrested after escaping from the courtroom Wednesday with some five others from unrelated cases. A police sergeant is being investigated in aiding in the escape. The trial of Nkonyana’s accused killers, nine in all, continues to be a frustratingly long and constantly delayed process.
