Now that Delaware has legalized same-sex marriage, 11 states have fully backed marriage equality with several more legalizing civil unions. There are various reports that as many as 12 states could legalize gay marriage in the next year. The GIF above shows how far the United States has come – from the day it was completely illegal to marry your same-sex partner to now, where we are still fighting but have come a long, long way.
