IDOL THREATS

’90s Gay-Porn God Ryan Idol Convicted Of Attempted Murder After Bathroom Brawl

Marc Anthony Donais, a.k.a. retired gay-porn stud Ryan Idol, was convicted of attempted murder on September 20 by a Sacramento jury.

As Idol, Donais starred in a string of eponymous X-rated titles in the mid-90s, including Idol Eyes, Idol Worship, Idol Country and Idol In The Sky. He even appeared on Broadway in a 2007 revival of Terrence McNally ‘s bathhouse comedy, The Ritz.

Tuesday’s conviction stems from an incident in September 2009, when Donais, who identifies as bisexual, smashed his ex-girlfriend in the head with a toilet-tank lid during an argument after they had broken up. The 45-year-old testified he acted in self-defense: he thought the woman had a knife—despite the fact that she was taking a bath at the time. His story was a washout with the jury.

We’re not sure if Donais/Idol has done any jailhouse scenes in his time before the camera—we’ll have to review his oeuvre at length tonight.
