It’s simple math, really. There are vastly more straight guys out there than gay folk, and feelings do have a way of taking control of the senses. But what should you do if you fall head over heels for a straight friend?
Be honest and tell them? Honesty and trust are the cornerstones of friendship, but do you really want to risk harming the relationship by making your deeper feelings known?
Keep it a secret? This might seem appealing at first, but keeping secrets can be a painful way to move about life.
Ultimately, it’s probably best to have some sort of dialogue with your friend about your feelings. If he really cares about you, he’ll probably be just fine about it after that initial awkwardness.

This whole straight guy obsession is fit when you a teen to around 21. Any older gay man Who still has this obsession with straight men needs some therapy. I have met so many older straight men who will not sleep with gay men. the masculine thing they are still searching for. I’m sorry but if you are a adult and still don’t know who you are, that’s unattractive, weak and you won’t make a good partner.

I have a friend who is pretty much a slut (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but will only “do” straight men. I told him it was a reflection of his own self-hate going after men who wouldn’t reciprocate.

Here’s the thing: why do people need to confess to their impossible crush that they’re in love with them? What do you gain? Nothing at all. If it hurts too much, explain why and move on. If you just find them physically attractive, jerk off and move on.
This self-inflicted torture is unnecessary, energy draining and just plain teen drama.
And I say this had a few unrequited crushes. I followed this and even if I may have lost a friend by moving on, I gained so much emotional peace. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

Really guys…why do we condone the narrative that gay men are pathetic, weak, desperate, sexual predators? A gay man can love a straight PLATONICALLY without attempts to trick said, straight man into sex.

I liked a straight guy during my sophomore year in college, I never told him because he’s straight…and I got over it. We really need to move past this fascination with straight men and learn to love ourselves.
