Say what?

This 2012 interview with Katie Couric about Matt Lauer is all sorts of awkward now

NBC took swift action this week against long-time Today Show host Matt Lauer after the network learned that he’d allegedly sexually assaulted a female NBC staffer during the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014.

Now a five-year-old clip from Andy Cohen‘s Watch What Happens Live featuring former Today Show staple Katie Couric has resurfaced, causing many to tilt their heads and say “huh…”

“On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company’s standards. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment,” NBC Chairman Andy Lack said in a memo to staffers.

“While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over twenty years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident,” he continued.

Back in 2012, Couric was a guest on Cohen’s WWHL. At one point in the segment, Cohen asked Couric what Lauer’s most “annoying” habit is.

“He pinches me on the ass a lot,” Couric said.

“Wow, I wouldn’t have a problem with that,” Cohen replied.
