5 romantic places in Seattle to soak in natural beauty–and a cocktail or three

Water views, spectacular sunsets, and stunning architecture, Seattle is a city that was built for romance. Perhaps the city’s architects were influenced by the famously rainy weather, which creates the perfect mood for cuddling up with someone special.

But sometimes a night on the couch just isn’t enough. Crank up the romance meter, put on a nice shirt, and take your partner out for a cocktail to celebrate a special occasion, toast an important anniversary, or maybe introduce yourself to someone new. Here are some of our favorites for having a romantic outing, and just for fun, they all involve getting a drink!

Space Needle

Seattle’s Space Needle is as famous as the city itself, and this landmark is in the process of having a $100 million facelift. Improvements include massive windows circling the observation deck, and two levels of glass floors that rotate to give views of the entire city and Eliot Bay. Don’t worry if you are scared of heights, because there’s nothing more romantic than wrapping an arm around your companion in times of need. Atmos Wine Bar serves delicious wine and beer, perfect for having a seat and watching the sunset as you spin by.

The Pink Door

This homey, rustic Italian restaurant in Pike Place Market serves delicious food with friendly service, and who doesn’t feel love when eating a plate filled with pasta? Glutenphobes, fear not, because the full menu offers lots of options, even vegetarian, or just go to the back patio and enjoy the views of Elliott Bay with a cocktail. Sunday and Monday nights are special: a burlesque troop performs on trapeezes hanging from the ceiling, which is lots of fun.
