Former child pop star Aaron Carter, set to make his debut in Naked Boys Singing this fall, has been showed the stage door. Producers for the show have announced his replacements: David Hernandez, of American Idol fame, and Chris Salvatore of Eating Out.
Press for Naked Boys Singing–the all-male, all-naked musical revue–had initially announced Carter would lead the show when it reopens in Las Vegas this September. Now comes word that the producers have fired Carter from the show, allegedly because the singer refuses to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Salvatore and Hernandez–both openly gay men–will step into the spotlight when the show resumes on September 15.

“I’m really stoked to be in the show and back in my birthday suit,” Hernandez said of landing the job. “Naked Boys Singing is hilarious, empowering and incorporates my favorite aspects of life: music and nudity.”
“I’m thrilled to join Naked Boys Singing in Las Vegas,” Salvatore said, echoing Hernandez’s enthusiasm. “I’m excited to combine my passion for music and singing in the hope to encourage others to be proud of their bodies.”
Both Salvatore and Hernandez will take part in an 11-week residency in the show, set to run through November 28. Naked Boys Singing originally hit the stage in Los Angeles back in 1998, where it won acclaim for its mix of music and flirtatious nudity. The show has continued to run ever since, spawning a film adaptation in 2007. The show remains the only fully-nude musical revue in Las Vegas.

He seems to have strong self-destructive instincts. The courts have ruled that employers may require employees to be vaccinated, so I guess too bad for him. Honestly, it’ll probably be a better show without him; that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Some courts have, yes. But not all courts. I see this going to the supreme court and they will more than likely rule in favor of the non-vaxxers. It’s not a good thing or a bad thing. If you are vaccinated, you are good. Let the others drown/do as they wish.

I would suggest that the paying audience would not be handing over good money to see him but just the success of the show it self. Would also suggest he wasn’t likely to follow through with the job, either on the basis of being off his face or just pulling out for other reason(s) close to opening date. Publicity put his name back in circulation and if refusing to be vaccinate is the reason his name won’t be mentioned again in the public performance area, how happy would that make a lot of people. 🙂

Happened to see him at the Oregon State Fair back when he was a kid. Apparently The “auto-tune” wasn’t working, because he was terrible! Watched the free show only long enough to eat my food and left. The concert was free with gate admission.

Sorry for the sarcastic note, but seeing perfectly toned bodies on stage won’t do much to encourage others to be proud of their body. I know people who say these things mean well, but it’s much like when a rich person claims money can’t buy happiness. We all know it can’t, but it can rent some darn good times.
