despite a new black upper class, overall the economic disparities between white and black south africans has increased since mandela’s presidency, which only really served to create the illusion of equality in south africa. look it up, there’s a whole shitload of awful things he did that went directly against the interests of the millions of poor black folks still living in the bantusans created under apartheid, such as being a PR figure for his friends in the notorious blood diamond industry.
