More bad news for Bryan Singer…
Last month, Avi Lerner, the producer of Singer’s next film Red Sonja, said the embattled director would not be fired from the project despite a string of fresh sexual misconduct allegations made against him in a damning exposé published by The Atlantic.

Lerner, co-founder of Mellennium Films, called the accusations “fake news” and claimed “the over $800 million Bohemian Rhapsody has grossed, making it the highest grossing drama in film history, is a testament to his remarkable vision and acumen.

But apparently, something has happened between then and now because according to The Hollywood Reporter, Millennium Films has since quietly removed Red Sonja from its slate.
Not only that, but the project isn’t being shopped in the European market either, which is a pretty clear signal that it’s been shelved, at least of the time being.

Following The Atlantic’s exposé, Singer released a statement calling it a “smear piece” written by a “a homophobic journalist who has a bizarre obsession with me dating back to 1997.”
“It’s sad that The Atlantic would stoop to this low standard of journalistic integrity,” Singer said. “And it is no surprise that, with Bohemian Rhapsody being an award-winning hit, this homophobic smear piece has been conveniently timed to take advantage of its success.”
Red Sonja was originally scheduled to begin shooting this spring, with a budget of $70-$80 million, with $10 million going to Singer.

Corroborated allegations were enough to take down Spacey, Weinstein, Moonves, Rose, Lauer and many others.
The stories re Singer’s behavior are legion.

Pinko they placed singer at the place and time of the accusers because it was recorded by people where that was their job. Then you had the various witnesses and accusations by the alleged victims. It’s the same exact story over and over. That’s a corroboration of facts.

Corroboration of a crime are witnesses to a crime. If Singer doesn’t claim he wasn’t there then all those other things are just coincidences. Unless being at a party is now a crime.
If Singer has done any of these things…then hang him in the corner by his balls till they turn black and pop off…till then can we keep some objectivity?

The thing is, one of the allegations came from an 18 year old. It was slanted to make it seem like he was after a child. The guy was also able to walk away at any time but chose not to. I’m trying to figure out how that makes him a sexual predator.
If he did try to get 14 year olds to shower naked in Apt Pupil, it is weird. That said, anyone aware of The Boys of St. Vincent? There were naked boys in the shower. They were like 12 or 13. Yes, I know it’s Canada and in the early 90s, but this isn’t crazy behavior. If the kids said no in Apt Pupil, did it prevent them from appearing?
Not sure about the 15 year old in 1999. Seems the kid did file charges at the time, and also said other “Hollywood insiders” were involved. This one appears to have the strongest evidence, IMO. If it happened it is indeed problematic.
It seems to me that once an accusation has been made, others jump on the bandwagon. I guess teens need to be video recording Singer when around him. Or, perhaps, Singer should do so to absolve himself of the accusations.

He’ll be innocent even after he’s been proven guilty.
The people that watch his movies don’t care, and neither do the studios. He brings in a lot of $$$…even though his movies are all basically the same thing.

The glee that this writer is taking with Singers problems is just odd, and very unprofessional.
There is only one man willing to be named but the corroborator to his story is dead.
One of the anonymous uncorroborated Atlantic accusers doesn’t remember if he was 17 or 18 at the time and was apparently a willing participant (only relevant if he was 18).

It is weird how so many of these people who constantly defend Singer (as well as defending some others celebs) always avoid a ton of details.

I am trying to defend the system. And the misuse of the word corroborated above.
The details are we don’t know 3 of their names; they are referred to in the article under aliases.
One of them wouldn’t even be able to get a police report written and taints the entire article.
The one willing to use his real name admits to trying to extort Singer.
So what detail did I miss?

@PinkoOfTheGange. The problem with you is that you want perfection. Anything besides a video of it actually happening is enough reasonable doubt for you to discount everything. That’s just not the real world.
Yes placing him in the center of the action at a convicted pedophiles house with everybody pointing the finger at him is enough for me. Not to mention everyone has known about this for decades now. Even Helen Keller could figure this out.

This just sounds like normal Hollywood stuff. Since it didn’t bother the producer I doubt it has anything to do with Singer.

I think it could have a lot to do with Singer – once studio heads realize all of the negative publicity they could get as well as audiences avoiding paying to see the movie, it makes sense they would shelve it for now/try to find another director.

And for all you Singer defenders, there is sooo much smoke that, you can not possibly be so dense as to ignore the possibility of fire. Or you don’t find his behavior at all deplorable or disgusting. Gonna say something that apparently some of you need to hear: taking advantage of underage persons, no matter the perceived level of consent, is simply morally and legally wrong.

He’s basically admitted to one crime; not reporting the rape of minor by other adults. He claims it was never him, but did see teenage boys in ‘sexual’ situations with other adult male attendees of the parties and going upstairs to the bedroom level.
Well…..the law says he should have called the police!

Pinko…I actually looked into this for another reason. A person who learns of the crime after it is committed and helps the criminal to conceal it, or aids the criminal in escaping, or simply fails to report the crime, is known as an “accessory after the fact”. Sounds a lot like what he did, don’t you think?

Also, if he’s so worried about his career being ‘harmed’, as he posted in his Instagram post, WHY doesn’t he sue The Atlantic? If he’s innocent it’d end quickly and he’d make some more money, RIGHT? Mister Singer, doesn’t this count as libel? Well stop whining them. SUE THEM. Go on! Sue them!
Dare I hazard a guess he doesn’t want to make the same mistake Oscar Wilde did; if he’s guilty the accusers can be brought in, the evidence starts to pile up, the case is thrown out and he gets arrested and prosecuted for statutory rape of minors and conspiracy to, etc.

Libel in the US is very hard to win. First you have to prove a negative and that the publisher had malice of forethought. Also celebrity creates a higher wall.
