Alex Diaz is a 25-year-old Filipino-Scottish actor and model who lives in Manila. Yesterday, he came out as bisexual in an emotional Instagram post after being outed by someone online last week.
It all started last Wednesday when a man claiming to be an “online fitness coach” shared screenshots of a private Instagram exchange between himself and Diaz.
In the conversation, Diaz asked if the man “accepted indecent proposals.” When the man said no, Diaz apologized then asked him not to share the conversation. In an act of cruelty, the man leaked the screenshots anyway and they quickly spread on social media before being published by an online tabloid.
Afterwards, Diaz laid low for a few days. Until yesterday, when he finally broke his silence.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“Thank you for the thousands of messages of love and support all over twitter and my message requests here on Instagram,” he wrote to his 580,000 followers yesterday.
“Never again will I be shackled by the fear of what might be said about who I am for fear of losing my career and instead, I will seek help, heal and champion change, acceptance and representation for the bisexual community and/or anyone who is met with prejudice in our society.”
Diaz continued, “It was not my intention to hurt anyone or elude the truth of who I am for all these years but rather a showbiz decisions based on the state of our nation in regards to acceptance and representation of who I am.”
He concluded, “My passion is performing, making people happy & making people smile. My only hope is that I can continue to use this platform to do such in whatever new path this universe-given experience has opened up for me. For now, I will rest, reevaluate and come back stronger and better than ever. I love you all, I have learned and I am growing.”
While the circumstances leading up to Diaz’s coming out are cruel and unfair, he seems to be making the most of the situation by refusing to live in fear. He is also fortunate in that the Philippines is frequently ranked as one of the most gay-friendly nations in Asia. In 2013, it ranked #10 most gay-friendly in a 2013 global survey of 39 countries.

You got caught looking for di*k and now your playing the Bi card.
DarkZephyr
Or he’s bi.
Granny Spoth
I am one of the rare openly bi men out there. Circumstances of my life forced me to come out. It was just simpler that way. Even though I’m slightly more female-attracted than male-attracted.
Bi men are everywhere.
More numerous than gay men.

His journey. None of your business. This is exactly why bisexual people feel invisible. You are the problem, and yours is an ugly text. Get a life. Love, no hate. Come to the light, my friend. We’re happier here!!!

When you write something and send it to another person, especially someone as sketchy as an “online personal trainer,” you’re giving them a chance to share it with the world. It’s like sticking your hand in
a fire and complaining that you got burned. No sympathy for this “victim.”

Re: The “bi” card. Your job, now, is to tell the truth. Try again?
tjack47
People are who they tell me they are, until they prove differently. What is so unbelievable about being bisexual?
Vince
Make no mistake. This is damage control since bi has allot less sting to it then gay. He had to say something after being caught after all.
Dymension
I want to see who it was he was chatting with!
JessPH
Miguel Chanco. He’s a hypocrite because there are pictures of him with a gay man in bed. It’s all over the internet.
talktalktalk
who???? I mean maybe I am getting old but WHO??? Literally noone has heard of this guy, and from the number of likes on the insta photos, I think he’s bought most of those followers
ShiningSex
I think a lot of people on here are saying the same thing “WHO”?
Brian
Do you live in the Philippines? There are entertainment industries all over the world that never cross over to the US.
dwes09
What part of famous in the Philippines do you not understand?
There are actually real countries with real cultures outside of the US, and they actually have their own celebrities.
In any case, more people have heard of him than will ever hear of most of us.
ShiningSex
bi now, gay later
Bjarne Henriksen
Totally! LOL
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
Why the fcuk do people always seek to destroy members of our community? Lot of people identify as bi when they first come out sort like Gay with training wheels he didn’t cause anybody any harm. Why so many spewing hatred on him?
there are thousands of individuals and groups or well deserving of our vitriol,
save it for the haters not for our own…

Out the damned “online fitness coach” for his arrogant cruelty. Turnabout is fair play.
Bladebiker04
No one should be “Outted” Should have been his decision, and in his own time.
azjeff17
“Bi” men don’t come out.
nm4047
apart from a Filipino celebrity, what relevance is this to the rest of the world. PS, Helen Kellar would have picked this one out of a line up as a gay boi. 🙂
dustashed
Fun fact– the coach does accept “indecent proposals” — either that or it the guy he was with was really his OTP lol
perhaps because the coach realized the guy was a celebrity in the country and thought he could milk more exposure from it?
jasentylar
Don’t know him.

From his comment on one of his Insta pics: “The way my armpit hair cascades…”
You’re gay, darling… soooooo gay! But we love you – welcome!

With regard to some of the comments on this page.As a 100% gay man who has never touched a woman and could never bring themselves to do anything like that. I totally accept that this individual is bisexual. I find it frustrating that a lot of gay men seem to think that if somebody sleeps with a man hes gay. That doesn’t make them gay in my book. Bisexuals exist they are out there. If a man has been with both sex’s he is bisexual neither gay nor straight. Let them live their lives as they feel fit give them a break.
Jerry
It doesn’t matter if he’s gay and comes out as Bi, it’s scary to speak up and we need to allow people to get where they’re going the way that they chose. I came out at 19, my way. This poor kid didn’t even get to make a choice. Lets be supportive to each other, I’m glad he didn’t commit suicide over it and had the courage to come out as Bi.
frankcar1965
He’ll be just plain ole’ gay in a little while. They always are.
