On Tuesday, actress Amber Tamblyn shed some light on James Woods’ criticism of the gay drama Call Me By Your Name.
Woods’ problem with the film: Armie Hammer stars as a 24-year-old American scholar who begins a romantic relationship with a 17-year-old male student (played by Timothee Chalamet.)

On Monday, Woods tweeted that the film is “quietly chip[ping] away the last barriers of decency,” hashtagging NAMBLA (the North American Man Boy Love Association).
This led Hammer to tweet back: “Didn’t you date a 19-year-old when you were 60……?”
On Tuesday, Amber Tamblyn shed some more light on Woods’ hypocrisy, writing, “James Woods tried to pick me and my friend up at a restaurant once. He wanted to take us to Vegas. ‘I’m 16,’ I said. ‘Even better” he said.’

I’m not into teens but a 17 yo and a 24 yo don’t seem so bad. A guy in his 60’s and a 16 yo is very bad in anyone’s book or should be. Not to mention gross.

It’s not “too” bad. The problem I have with the film is that it’s treating the relationship has some great, passionate romance. And in the macro it’s another sentimental, wannabe subversive “gay movie” about self-discovery, short-term romance and/or confusion. There’s no variation in how homosexual relationships are presented on screen.
James Woods is a hypocritical, megalomaniac kook. That’s been known long before this incident.
