Well creative choices aside don’t forget the freshman Idol covers are ALWAYS this formula. A shot of the artist with some bare bones nothing background. If you go see previous ones they were awful. Kris’s is the first one with anything in the back and he has chairs LOL. But THIS ONE is a perfect photo and that makes it head and shoulders above most of the Idol freshman albums I can recall. Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the real Adam. Bold, true and unafraid. Good looking never hurts too.

My glorious, mesmerizing Adam…
The closer we get to the release date for this album, the more excited I get. This cover does not change that. I don’t care much for his hairstyle here, but that would be my only real complaint about it. The glamdrogyny is in full effect, the use of colour is uber-retro (but hip and current, as well), even the fonts work for me. This cover is 100% pure Adam, and is as much a statement of intent as his music, his wardrobe, or any other artistic decision he makes.
On the one hand, I know that Idol contestants’ first albums are rarely as good as people want them to be, and there is no reason for Adam to be the exception to that rule. On the other hand…I do believe Adam will be the exception to that rule. He’s Adam Lambert. What can’t he do? This is the man who is going to reinvigorate pop music, bringing ferocity and fabulosity to the masses. He is this millennium’s Elvis, Bowie, Mercury, Plant…pardon the melodrama, but he’s the fucking saviour of pop.
And you know we’re gonna get a collab with Lady Gaga before long. It has to happen. That’s an exciting proposition in its own right.

It’s not androgyny really; it’s something else. Not quite sure. That’s the tricky thing about it. It came the closest in a split second shot on the finale night when he was singing with KISS. I’ve never seen any photos of it, but I never forgot seeing it on the screen. He looked out at the camera with that hair going every which way and those rhinestone on his eyelids. It was sex and defiance. Not butch but not effeminate, not in between, either. Something else. Wanted to f*ck him so bad. That’s what a photographer needs to catch. Fleeting stuff.

Saying “nobody is better than Bowie” is just as fanboying. I assume you’ve actually listened to Bowie’s voice? Nobody in the universe has ever claimed Bowie to be a great “singer”. There is no comparison and YES even David Freaking Bowie would agree that Lambert is far more skilled and talented a singer than he was, not to mention the boy was working on his craft for 17 years versus Dave who was not a “serious aspiring singer”. Ever. If you lived Bowie you’d already know this. Same with Freddie. The comment was made about his skills not his creativity or performance skills. Lambert still has to prove if he has the ground breaking creativity of Bowie, if he can actually “write” a few songs (which is all Bowie ever did was a “few”) or the raw heartbreaking crowd loyalty shattering genius of Freddie but in terms of voice? No contest. You may prefer Freddie’s timbre and tone (I personally feel Adam’s is too thin at times) but technically Adam is more accomplished. I’m waiting to see if he can connect with the audience like Freddie. Versus gaining their excitement from merely performing for them. Haven’t seen it exactly yet, that’s a new challenge for him and I wish him well.
I also hope his gay brethern lay off the typical snarky crap but that’s not likely to happen in our lifetimes, since it’s a badge of honor.

He’s a 27 year old kid who was worked and exhausted for 50 shows straight, and long press, albums and appearances throughout. His error was accepting the typical Idol album cover WITH an attempt to be creative. Idol uses people on their payroll, some FUKO girl who is no famous anybody she works for Sony corporate. This female fan had braced herself for crazier than this. I earlier stated I wasn’t jumping over the moon about his album cover. I think we female fans thought Adam’s cover was going to be the pic where there’s 5 different Adam poses in the same frame. At least, that’s what I’d hoped for.
I think I know why Adam’s album sales on Amazon dropped the previous weeks. A deluxe album was announced and plus, people were becoming frustrated over the lack of information about it–no album title, art, list of songs, snippets of song leaks, etc.
Now that we know a whole lot more, people are beginning to buy again.

Just because he meant it to be campy doesn’t mean it is. When camp is that planned it’s just tacky. There needs to be a certain amount of naivetĂ© to camp… Sontag famously wrote “You can’t do camp on purpose” and “Pure Camp is always naĂŻve. I personally love the cover but it doesn’t matter at all what it looks like because adam is a great singer and the songs on it will be great. People are calling the cover “out there” and “daring” but it isnt like adam is anything like kris allen–adam IS out there and daring he has been ever since he started american idol so everyone needs to shut up about it and love adam for who he is–not for what he looks like on the cover of his album!!!

Here’s what AT&T did to me. First they blocked my 1000 plus votes on finale night. The very next day I get a very unoffical looking confirmation saying, “Thanks for voting for Adam,” and not “Thanks for voting for Adam Lambert.” When every other night I voted, I received my confirmation right away.
After I confronted them about it, AT&T began cutting my phone off before it ran out of minutes when I’d previously never, ever had that problem.

I reported the AT&T/AI/Fox fraud to FCC, filing a report only to have my home phone number given to AT&T who left a few nasty messages for me. The fact that Kris Allen’s career may mirror that of previous Idol Winner Taylor Hicks (Who, you ask?) is the only Karma of this rigged poll-driven myopic show. Despite Ellen taking over as Ms Nice from Paula Abdul in the New Season, an Out Gay will not win when the organized Christian-Right have phone banks at every activist church. The best way to punish their homophobia (and racism, too!) is to denigrate the show, ask people not to blog about it on Facebook or other Social Networking sites and always Twitter words like “Lame” and “Boring” with American Idol, suggesting more fun shows. If the advertisers realize that the target audience is leaving in droves unless they covet overweight mid-western teenagers living at home and going to Community College, American Idol will get transferred to the CW to be buried on Friday and lost forever.

That’s why I’ve decided NOT going to buy Kris Allen’s CD. I know he’s a nice dude who’s shown the world that straight guys can actually be friends w/ a gay guy without turning to a pillar of salt, however, it’s the principle of the matter. I feel sorry for the poor kid. He’s the victim in this war which Gokey started, but you have to do what you have to do.
Even if Adam’s album sounds like bluegrass music with cows mooing in the background (which I know it won’t) I will still purchase Adam’s CD to support him. I know it puts a lot of gay guys off that we women are fanatical over Adam, however, you must understand how many of us became this way in the first place.
I’m usually not a fanatic. I was all set to do this year like I do every year. Pick my favorite, watch the auditions, hollywood week, the homecoming week and the finale and not get actively involved in the voting. However, I learned that the Christian Coalition was planning an all out war with Adam. There was a community Christian hate committee set up right here in my own neighborhood. I was so furious, it was all I could do to keep from storming over there. So I, along many of Adam’s other fans did, became extremely protective of him battling as many bigots as we can online. I would do almost anything to protect Adam from this mindless bigotry.
Other than Adam’s hotness, astronomical talent, this is the other reason Adam has “rabid” fanatical fans. We’re like dobermans and pitbulls and damn proud of it. No one should have to suffer that kind of treatment.

When Adam’s album cover art first popped up on my screen I thought it was a joke . . . no f-ing kidding. I was like, “OK, where’s the real cover.” This thing looks like an airbrushed cartoon of a girl trying to look like Adam, or simply a 1980’s drag queen. It’s so disappointing. Adam is a handsome, beautifully made-up, classy, gay MAN, and his voice is unparalleled. That’s why he’s sexy. His cover art should honor him. There are thousands of beautiful photos upon which to base a cover. Adam should re-think this. The way I’ve been talking him up, I’m actually embarrassed by the selected art. Adam, darling, you don’t want your DEBUT album cover to be “ridiculous.” You want it to knock people on their asses. You’re a class act. Represent yourself as such.

Yeah, but many people begin businesses with another person whether or not they decide to incorporate. A good number of sole proprietors also eventually, form LLC’s as well. Shoot, people advise me to LLC myself before I sign a contract for any of the songs I’ve written or the unpublished novel I’ve written.
Attention Don’t blame me…that’s why I’ve chosen not to work my own field and keep a low paying job where I can even play my guitar at work and do final edits on my manuscript, because I believe in myself enough to take a chance like that.

re: the gay thread. No really, they are gay women on there and late teens. I don’t go “in” there much frankly because it’s poignant and sad for me and nothing I can contribute. And just like here it’s not my place. Yes they celebrate Adam and in the most sweet and quiet way. But you sort of feel like you are imposing on their most private moments because the young girls are sharing coming out stories of rejection and hurt.
I think that’s what you saw, they were consoling a kid who’s father disowned her and mother ignores her since she came out to them. You can tell it’s not hyperbole it took her a long time to actually go into it and she was not the least bit dramatic, she was quiet, scared and alone. SRSLY.

To Romeo: I think I am deluded, I admit, because I kind of thought maybe Adam would be like one of his idols (Bowie), who was gay for decades and then became bi, married Iman (a famous model) and had a child.
