My god, Ellen, keep it in your pants! A full minute of fawning over Adam Lambert precedes today’s interview, where the pop singer wears a leather tie to match his leather jacket. And, evidently, the entertainment news cycle has not moved beyond Lambert’s AMA stint! But here, Ellen makes the points we’ve been repeating: If you’re among the 1,500 people who complained about the performance, then you need to start calling to complain to any network that puts sexuality on display after 10pm.
But what’s up with Lambert sympathizing with ABC’s censorship call? FAIL.
Josh
There were radio stations that said that they would never play his songs due to the AMA performance.
So he has to be smart and strategic to keep from being blacklisted by various media.
He has talked about the double standard before and how he feels he has done nothing wrong.
But he has to show that he understands the views of those who were offended.
romeo
Not surprised he’s back-pedaling a bit. He needs access to the majors to market himself. Won’t do if they get too nervous. I’m not concerned with this. Everybody still knows he did a simulated blow job on national TV. He still rocks! LOL
Hate the clown shoes, though. Wish that style would just die.
The Milkman
I don’t care if he’s slutty on stage. Who isn’t these days? But if he wants people like me to listen to him, he’s going to have to stop trying to shock people and start singing well.
AlwaysGay
They both were nervous. Ellen is only one who has touched on anti-gay reaction to Adam’s AMA performance. I think he made the right decision for the most part about his AMA performance. Adam was the most talked about person for the entire show. BTW, he did a great performance of “Whataya Want from Me” on Ellen’s show.
Tommy
I agree, Milkman. A lot of artists like Madonna and Britney do shocking things, but it’s usually after they have already established themselves, had hits and gained fans. I don’t think it was the right way to introduce himself and his music to the world even though I’m not offended by it.
Josh
Didn’t Madonna really gain her super star status at the MTV music awards when she sang Like A Virgin while writhing and humping the stage in a wedding dress?
John from England(used to be just John but there are other John's)
Exactly Josh…
And Tommy…
Remember the Britney cover on Rollingstone as a 16 year old…
You don’t think condoning peodophelia is worse?
Tommy
But both Madonna and Britney already had hits before they did those things. Like A Virgin was her second album. And Britney was already successful or she wouldn’t have been on RS.
I don’t see Britney’s cover as condoning pedophelia at all. To me a pedophile is someone who has sex with a very young girl or boy. A 16 year old is almost an adult and old enough to have sex.
Alexander
Lambert really needs to stick to his “fuck you” attitude if wants to get any traction from this. People respect those who buck authority more than those who bend to it’s will.

Well since Ellen’s not gay on T.V., it was left to Adam to introduce the gay word and re-state his position on equality.
She FOLLOWED with the position on the sexuality thing. I assume she was letting him lead with how much he wanted to talk about homosexuality. He did not disappoint he said it right away. He commented that his show was more a matter of taste level than obscenity. He was laughing sorta sheepish but conveyed “whatever”. It was the right tone on that particular vanilla program I guess.
His voice was a little tight but who wouldn’t have been a bit nervous wondering if his segment was gonna be met with dead silence.
Way to go Glamberts with the standing O and squealing applause. Nature abhors a vacuum and his fans fill it.
Way to go Ellen, pulling out all the stops on this one. You really brought it with the Victoria Secret model and Chippendale Santas playing revolving chairs with the audience women. Whatever.
Ricky
Tommy, she was 16! Established or not, in most states that is under the age of consent and would be considered statutory rape. It isn’t pedophilia so to speak but it still is wrong! It promotes a sexy image and tantalizes the whole fantacy of “jail bait”. And Madonna’s break out hit was “Like A Virgin”. She had an album prior, sure… and she was gaining popularity, but “like A Virgin” is the song that put her on the map. Britney Spears was being established. By your argument alone, Adam Lambert is established then because he has had a cover on Rolling Stone… BEFORE his album dropped. Rolling Stone wouldn’t dare put new talent on its cover. NO WAY!

Pink needs to apologize first. She did that move on tv 5 years ago right here: http://bit.ly/8npcA9 (1:36)

Madonna was relatively “decent” when she did “Like a Virgin” in a wedding dress during the 1984 MTV awards. If you review the video on YouTube, the most she did was lightly “bounce on/hump” the floor for a couple of seconds. Though it was shocking during those times, it wasn’t shocking enough to ban her from television.
Adam’s reference to female performers is misplaced. Why compare his performance with that of a female performer? He’s still a guy. If a straight man simulated a sexual act on stage, he’d certainly get a ton of flak, too. There’s no double-standard.
Madonna did no such thing on primetime live television–she reserved the shockers for her concerts.
To Adam Lambert: People already accept that you’re gay, and people already love you for your talent and are buying your album. What more do you want?
