We can only hope Oprah will officiate this wedding

Neil Patrick Harris says that he’s finally ready to put a wedding band on it and make an honest man out of his fiancé David Burtka.

Those two crazy kids have been engaged now for seven years and had twins Harper and Gideon via surrogate in 2010. With the fall of DOMA and the resumption of same-sex weddings in California, the thespian couple is planning their very own, though no date is set as yet.

“Certainly, we have children and marriage is an appropriate thing to do [as] a part of their well being, so I’m sure it will be inevitable—and awesome!” Harris told E! News over the weekend. “We’re about to move to New York so it’s a tricky situation. I don’t know if it would be an east coast or west coast thing.”

Though Harris maintains that the Supreme Court’s rulings on Prop 8 and DOMA were “inevitable” and “going to happen,” he joined the chorus of celebrities expressing their joy over Twitter last week:

Burtka is a gold digger….give it six months..

  • MikeE

@balehead: Really? Was your inane comment really necessary? They’ve been together nearly 10 years now, they have children together. But to you, that’s a temporary thing?

As for Burtka being a gold-digger, he has his own career. Why would you stoop so low and make such contemptible judgement? You must really be a very bitter and unhappy person.

  • B Damion

I really really really like them together. I wish them the best.

@MikeE: Yes he his! Read any of his other posts. Balehead lives in a really dark, depressing world.

    Congratulations to the couple!

And, just to remind everybody, I know that people get their panties in a bunch about outing, but remember, Harris was actually outed, he seems happier, his career has skyrocketed, and he has been great for the community.

  • miagoodguy

    Good luck to them

And outing is still wrong regardless of the outcome. It is a PERSONAL and INDIVIDUAL decision when to come out. It is not for anyone else to force coming out on you.

I know this is a horrible idea, in that it could be seen as trivializing not only an important life moment but also the whole concept… but if I were scheduling things, just for the fun of it I’d put their real-life wedding the weekend before Barney’s airs.

Again, please explain to me how it was wrong to out a man who walks in public holding his partners hand and brings him to awards shows.

The media chose not to report on it.

You seem to be freaking out a bit, so please again point out how NPH was damaged.

Annnnd here we go with the cat fighting. Wouldn’t be a gay forum without it. lol…wink!

    About time !!!

Congratulations to them both. I never really liked Neil Patrick Harris and still don’t. Their dynamic puzzles me and seems a bit off. That said, it is their life together not mine so I wish them the very best. Oh and contrary to the comment about David being a gold digger….I think he is the one getting the short end of the stick so to speak.

    F Oprah!

Love to read stories like this. Long-term couples in great relationships!

    Congrats to the couple!

BEAUTIFUL couple. Don’t worry about the shade being thrown by the single, bitter, jaded gays who love ripping on fellow gays. We in the gay community know those types and stay farrr away from them (hence they always need to rip on other gay couples, because they know everyone recognizes their bitterness)

  • miagoodguy

Who knew that the standard by which it is ok to be outed is if he suffers afterwards. Once again, it was his decision when he decided to publicly announce he is gay. His hand should not have been forced by anyone for any reason. As I said, good luck to them.
