No, it’s not the most upbeat track, but we’ve been humming the late Jeff Buckley’s rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” all day, so we’re sharing the wealth. Anyone who has never heard it best pay attention – it’s great for the sack.

Jeff Buckley made this song into a masterpiece. Its gut wrenching
and he really gets across one of the most important aspects of our human existence.
Its not a cry that you hear at night
Its not somebody whose seen the light
Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah
I know of no words that better describe the outcome of love.

One of my favorite songs ever.
But really? In the Sack? That would make for some seriously melancholy sex.
This song does many things to me, but the only mood it has ever put me in is the mood to drink and possibly weep quietly.

It’s so beautiful! One can have really serious sex to this track. Deep, romantic and meditative – the best kind there is, if you ask me.

What’s wrong with his teeth?

this would be on par with playing Portishead. If I were going home with someone I wanted to eff, and they put this on, I think it might be a deal breaker. Or at least make my boner concave.

Perhaps that’s why Michael Barthel calls it a “sad sack” version.
Seriously, I love the song in its multitude of interpretations. My favorite being one by Allison Crowe – which is celebratory in its catharsis. As is the version Leonard Cohen himself is performing this Summer.
It’s just brilliant, however you choose it!

Buckley sucks.

Meh, the Rufus Wainwright version is leagues better!

The John Cale one is great too.

Buckly’s version is by far the best. Superb, but not something to be played anywhere near the sack. Ugh. Rufus Wainwright’s version is too whiney, as is all his music.
