Things aren’t looking good down in Florida, where the right-wing want to ensure gay folk never, ever get the same rights as heterosexual married couples. According to a recent poll, 55% of Floridians support the measure, Amendment 2, which reads: “Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.” A sad 34% of voters are opposed to the Amendment. The only cool thing is that they need 60% of the vote to change their Constitution. They are expecting a +50% turn out for the measure, but don’t think it will reach the critical 60% mark.

I don’t think that’s true ChicagoJimmy. I think you’re thinking of the U.S. Constitution.
Either way I just donated $50 to No on 8. You all should too!

Oh I thought this was California, didn’t read it properly.

floridian here… chicago jimmy is correct. in florida it takes 60% to amend the constitution.
