Thanks to Aja for being so jealous of Valentina on Season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race because that jealousy is now the hook on a fierce dance track by DJ Adam Joseph.
In what is shaping up to be the big rivalry on this season of Drag Race, Aja–an avant garde drag artist from Brooklyn, NY–is faltering under the pressure of the judges’ critiques, while they heap delicious servings of praise on other contestants, including Valentina, a glamour girl from Los Angeles who came to the show with less than a year of drag experience. Never one to internalize her sorrows, Aja instead has unleashed her jealousy directly onto Valentina, as evidenced by the sound byte used as a sample in Joseph’s new song.
Among the many shady jabs that Aja has attempted to use against Valentina, the line “You’re perfect, you’re beautiful, you look like Linda Evangelista” is destined to become part of Drag Race herstory, to be repeated by queens far and wide, either as a compliment or as the read it was intended to be. Although to her credit, Valentina seems to be rather unbothered by the drama.
Look for “Linda Evangelista” to be part of every big summer party of 2017.
