While folks like us homosexuals were upset to see General Motors pull its sexy “Bumble Bee Boys in Briefs” video from YouTube, not every car buyer was sad to see it go. Namely, the homophobic car buyers.
Intended as a promotion for “Chevrolet Gay Day at the Movies” to help promote Transformers 2, the “Bumble Bee” clip was uploaded to, and yanked from, the web because it wasn’t fully vetted by GM brass. Rather, a rogue part of their LGBT marketing group sent it out without permission!
What was GM so afraid of? That showing two handsome young men washing a Camaro would brand the model a fag ride?
Actually, that’s entirely possible — given some of the comments prospective buyers have left about the video on one report. They include:
• “THE FIREBIRD IS THE SISTER CAR TO THE CAMARO. ROCKFORD DROVE A FIREBIRD. HE WASNT GAY. GM SCREWED EVERYTHING UP WITH THIS MISGUIDED INSPIRATION. IF I WAS A MECHANIC AT A GM DEALERSHIP, I WOULD QUIT… WOULDNT WANT TO CATCH ANYTHING FROM THE CARS.”
• “I WAS VERY INTERESTED IN ONE OF THESE TILL THEY CALLED THE POOP PACKERS. LOOKS LIKE I’M JAPANESE ALL THE WAY NOW!!!”
• “california has a state car, and it’s the called the camaro!”
• “I hope GM looses their ass on this car. I have owned 3 camaros in the past. Ill be dam if I purchase anoher and be tagged as a ***. What a shame. I hah planned on buying a new 2010. Not now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
And our favorite, which gets a gold star for creativity:
• “FAGOTRON the Decepticon Transform into a Gaymaro!”

Youtube comment sections are some of the skankiest, moronic, voids of humanity you will ever find. Plus cars are apparently in the sphere of uber chest beating masculunity.

wow, i’m totally shocked that an anonymous comments section degraded into vicious name-calling and gutter-level insults.

@samwise: Actually, you’ll find the comment conversations over at the more popular automotive blogs, like Jalopnik and Autoblog (which both have more than their fair share of gay readers too, as you’ll see) are thankfully more enlightened than the no-neck asswipes featured in this story.

As a gay ‘car guy’, it’s no suprise to me that the Camaro (or the Mustang, or Challenger, or an F-150 or any other “Amurican” vehicle) has it’s fair share of redneck, homophobic, moron fans.
What has been suprising is the many gay supportive, straight ally comments on many autoblogs. Posting homphobic crap is just not cool on most blogs. In my experience, gay-friendly or at least open-minded/gay-tolerant posts made by straight male car fans, far outnumber the negative, asshat posts. In fact, many straight men totally “dish” and bitchslap the homophobes in a manner almost suitable for Queerty. Bravo!
Shows me that mainstream culture really is changing…when one of the last bastions of the ‘red-blooded American male’ has turned from homophobic, to basically gay supportive.
Taking on the world of sports is next…

They probably pulled it because they know they would get far more press than if they let it stay up.
See that there? Viral marketing in play.

Yet how many of these Joe 30-Packs had to sneak off to the bathroom and beat the bishop each time they watched that Whore of Babylon, Paris Hilton, stuff a Carl’s Jr. 1,200 calorie hamburger into one of her many cock holes while sliding down the hood of a car in a bikini?
What’s good for the gander isn’t good for the geese apparently.

The Camaro is a solid hit for GM. It’s outselling the Mustang.
I don’t think there’s enough of these morons to do any harm. Standard Youtube garbage posts

Did anyone else think queerty uncovered the actual bumblebee video and click that picture? It conformed with queerty’s new format of putting vids, with bronze borders, at the top of their articles. Needless to say, I was both embarrassed and disappointed. ._.
