What Christian extremists have been warning us about for years is finally happening. People in America are turning gayer and gayer. And at a shockingly fast rate, too.
A new Gallup survey has found that more than 10 million Americans, 4.1% to be exact, now identify as LGBTQ. That’s an increase of more than 1.75 million since the last survey conducted in 2012, which found 3.5% of Americans identified as LGBTQ.

The survey is based on a total of 1,626,773 telephone interviews with randomly selected Americans ages 18 and older living in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The survey was conduced from June 1, 2012 through December 30, 2016.

Millennials showed the sharped increase in overall LGBTQ self-identification, going from 5.8% in 2012 to 7.3% in 2016. Generation Xers remained more of less than same, hovering around 3.2%. Baby boomers went from 1.8% to 1.4%, and traditionalists (folks born between 1913-1945) went from 1.8% to 1.4%.

Some of the survey’s other findings included:
- More women (4.4%) identified as LGBTQ than men (3.7%).
- Among ethic minorities, the largest increase in LGBTQ self-identification occurred within the Asian population, going from 3.5% to 4.9% over the course of the four years.
- LGBTQ identification increased among all income and education groups.
- Increases in LGBTQ identification were largely among those who are not religious.
According to Gallup, the fact that data security and confidentiality are less of a concern to millennials, in general, could explain why that group is so much more likely to identify as LGBTQ than older generations.
Or maybe gayness is just contagious.

The numbers reflect the impact of the AIDS crisis. Not only are many older people, who would have identified as gay, dead but also the crisis served to make closeted folk more firmly entrenched in the closet. These sorts of surveys need context.

I’ve always said that only 2% of males are homosexual plus another 2% or so that are bi/closeted/repressed makes between 4 and 5% of males that are not completely heterosexual. These numbers prove me correct once again. No where near the 10% claimed by queer activists or slutty young guys in big cities that claim they can have anyone.

The statistics are inaccurate because they do not reflect that many people today are still in the closet. When you consider all members of the LGBT community, including those who don’t identity as such, you are looking at 10 – 20% of the population. The numbers have always been ridiculously low. America is as gay as it has ever been or ever will be. This was not a survey of how many people are gay, but of how many are OUT. There are definite generational differences — millennials are much more likely to be openly gay and my generation was mostly closeted.

I seem to recall i commented on your inability to think critically in a previous post on another article. But this is more evidence of that. The fact that this reduction is only true in population were morbidity and mortality are an increasing issue makes your “interpretation” pretty dicey. In baby boomers and “traditionalists” the effects of greater oppression, less likelihood of adequate medical care, support from family or spouse suggests greater mortality among the gay folks in those populations. Among those most likely to be out, proud, well supported and sustained by a community the number has increased the most markedly. But your “understanding” is certainly consistent with a self-hating homosexual or a regressive straight person here to troll. Like Brian, everyone is well aware that you are one of those two.

You know, you really need not rely on your imagination for definitions. not only does it seriously impair communication, but as we see so often here, it is frequently incorrect. There is such a thing as a dictionary (check it out!!). And for the record, they list heterosexual as both an adjective AND a noun.
As for Kinsey…As a young man, Kinsey began inserting objects into his urethra — initially drinking straws before moving on to pipe cleaners, pencils and finally a toothbrush – to punish himself for having homoerotic feelings, and inserting toothbrushes continued throughout his adult life.After becoming accustomed to the pain of urethral insertions, he circumcised himself without anesthesia. His work has been criticized for several unscientific and unprofessional aspects, including a non-random sampling of subjects and excessive personal involvement in some of his subjects. It is quite clear he had an agenda of rationalizing and supporting his own neuroses and obsessions, much as Freud did. But people driven by their own agendas to the point of non-objectivity would likely be attractive to you, as you share that trait.
He was undeniably important as the first to try and study sexual behavior, but he failed in many ways to elevate it to the level of science he had hoped. He was much more objective as an entomologist!
