So he claims he didn’t attack the student for homophobic reasons, then says that the fear that the student was implying that he was gay caused him to attack him.

      Um….sounds pretty f-ing homophobic.

His features make a really disturbingly rigid T shape. Eyes and brows on top, and the nose and too small mouth making the vertical. All too fixed.

Yes because his explanation was just so much better. Obviously, he’s in the closet himself. Typically using violence against other gays so no one will suspect him. Sorry dipsh**. Doesn’t work that way.

“he then asked if the student was implying that he (Smith) was “f***ing gay or something.” Receiving an affirmative reaction, Smith then admitted to putting him in a head lock and ejecting him from the party.”

Sometimes, the most violent homophobes are secretly gay and very closeted. Lashing out against gays by such persons was explained by Freud in explication of this theory of “projection,” the notion that we tend to project upon others traits in ourselves with which we are uncomfortable. Perhaps this guy is on the verge of a breakthrough. Let’s hope so.

It’s a myth that all mixed race kids are cute. His mouth is crooked, his teeth are too, but the real issue is that he’s dumb as rocks and is doing an audition in front of a polka dot shower curtain, in a terry cloth bathrobe, and without having a shower or brushing his hair first.

Listen, I’m fifty. I have never seen a heterosexual male react this way and NOT end up coming out of the closet somewhere down the line and in one form or another. A true straight guy is always secure in his sexuality and insinuations that he might be gay do not ruffle his feathers. Those who react violently (or protests too much) are reacting to possibly being found out. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Adam came out on this show as a publicity stunt and he’ll probably get favorable responses from the judges … and that could be his motive, as well.

@johnny: I don’t know that your 50 years make you an expert on straight male sexuality. Straight men, especially young ones, do all kinds of things to prove their masculinity. They play sports, drive fast cars, get into fights, drink too much, join the military, rape and abuse women AND beat up fags. None of these acts is evidence of their homosexuality. Perhaps it’s evidence of insecurity and the fragility of the male ego. Again, most men, including most homophobes, are NOT gay. Get over it.

During my career as a forensic psychologist ( Now doing something else), I have interviewed many people from all sort of social strata. I specialize in sexual orientation and my clients have always known about my confidentiality obligations. Thus I was able to hear the most amazing confessions form the most ‘unexpected’ heterosexuals. One of the prevalent issue justifying homophobia and hatred, was that in early life these poor ‘hetero’ souls have experienced rejection by a fellow man. This devastating experience of rejection, compelled them to be the most acerbic, scorned and most vociferous homophobic…. Exceptions still apply. Dr. Jeanluc Capri

@Clark: Really? ALL “gay people never seem to accept?” Of course, if you focus on “Litper’s” rather infintile rebuttals you might come to that conclusion but making such insulting generalizations and then, in the same paragraph, saying, “people are different,” makes your debate slightly hypocritical. No one gay or straight person should be judged by comparison to another or by a small group such as this. That’s akin to racism. I think I understand your point, though. It’s just your wording that got me a little confused especially since EVERYONE likes me ALL the time. LOL! I’m just pulling your leg now. Have a good one and don’t pay any mind to Litper. @balehead: Of course you can change your face! People do it all the time! LOL! But … objectively speaking … yes, he is “hawt” ….. until he opens his mouth. He won’t look like that in ten years but unless his priorities change he’ll still be, shall we say, intellectuality challenged? Honestly, I’ve never seen this show. I’ve dated some gorgeous guys but unfortunately their personalities didn’t have much room to grow because all thir energy went to the superficial. You can respect a physically beautiful person as a work of art … but take pictures while they are at their short-lived peak. Yes, it is important to take care of oneself but, ultimately, people are attracted to confidence, security, thoughts and passion, and I’m not strictly referring to intimate passion. How a person takes care of himself is a reflection of these qualities and his mental stability. Friends often will say things like, ‘Why are you dating him?’ before they even get to know the guy. Eventually, they figure it out, though. There are many more aspects to chemistry than what meets the eye. Unfortunately, with the priorities of society being as they are, these guys of which I speak are few and far between.
Sorry. I’m a bit cerebral today. LOL!

@johnny: Sorry, tone is difficult to communicate on the internet. I’m not hostile or angry; just frustrated and annoyed by the obsessive, naive and juvenile assumption often seen on Queerty that all homophobes are closet cases. I think it’s a kind of internalized homophobia: “You think you’re better than us; well you’re really one of us.” Frankly if we really believe these homophobes are gay, shouldn’t we be more sympathetic and supportive to them in dealing with the pain and difficulties we’ve all experienced?

I find his act obnoxious, and the impulsive “protective instinct” downright offensive rather than defensive. It was a robotic, zombie act orchestrated by the impulsivity of society itself; I do think people can change, and it’s impossible to make a judgement from an article. I believe the violent and unjust nature of his action beckons suspicion, but I don’t believe that society gives everyone the equal opportunity to grow-up holy and blameless. I feel he should be obligated to apologize humbly on television and receive only forgiveness, but no reward apart from a God-given lesson.

      Feb 23, 2014 at 4:13 pm · @ReplyReply to this comment ·
    • johnny

@Respect4all: That was so nice of you and I guess this makes me a hypocrite because I’m always complaining about the issue of attempting to communicate via the written word. I read anger into your imaginary voice and I apologize. And, no, I suppose all ‘phobes aren’t gay but you do raise an important issue which also eats away at me. These guys posting lashing out at others and name-calling … not much constructive about that. If I were in the closet and experienced this, I’d want to stay there. I’ve already considered “un-joining” Queerty after joining last night based on what I’ve read in these posts. Every oppressed minority has hundreds of different personalities within their midst. Those differences have to be set aside or else nothing productive can happen. Anger and hate are all negative, based on fear, and do very little to benefit progress. Based on some of these responses, I’d like to grab a few by the neck and throw them out in the front lawn, myself, but what would that accomplish? That would only fuel their anger and do nothing encouraging to make that person a better person.
      Thanks for the response, Respect4All.

@Bobby Christina Crawford: That hasn’t been my experience. I’ve had numerous conversations with homophobes who were willing to listen and reassess their attitudes, i.e. to change. You have to approach them with reason, respect and sensitivity. I find this approach works with all types of prejudices. That doesn’t mean it works with everyone. The dogmatic religious ones are the hardest because they don’t respond well to reason.

JFC people, everyone has said things without thinking or done things they regret due to intoxication. Normally yes, I would be very against homophobic behavior, but its shown on the reality series that he (at least currently) does not have any homophobic feelings and actually gets along well with one of the gay models in the competition. He admitted in the show that he shouldn’t have done what he did and that it was “100% bullying” he regrets his mistake and was even unable to land a job for a while because of this incident. Now it’s years after and he’s shown that he’s significantly change. It’s completely horrible that at least half of the comments here are calling him a closet case. Just going to someone and going your behaviors like this so I think your gay is beyond logical and actually a little borederline homophobic itself (oh the irony). At least try to find out what he’s like currently before you go judging a person by something that happened nearly 5 years ago.

Smith seems to be very fit and works out on a daily basis which might explain why people who are healthier and more fit would still have trouble resisting. More importantly this is only limited information, if you were to actually watch the show you see that he becomes less egotistic after the first few episodes and is currently on good terms with another competitor who happens to be gay.
