We’re so happy Anderson decided to come out already. If he hadn’t, we probably would have never seen him wriggle on the floor in front of Cher, and more importantly, dress up as a Cher impersonator.
This week, Cooper used The Ridiculist segment of his show to shame “anyone out there who may doubt that Cher is awesome,” while poking fun at himself for acting like a 10-year-old girl on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live last week. I’m launching a preemptive strike any of you Cher skeptics,” he said, “because she is awesome.”
His crafty coworkers took a jab at him later in the segment by broadcasting a doctored image of himself as a Cher impersonator. Too bad it didn’t send him into another giggle fit.

Anderson is great. He’s dynamic. It’s nice to see different sides of him. The serious journalist, but also the fun guy who can laugh at himself.

Well he became irrelevant quickly. Anderson Cooper used to be a rising star in serious journalism. Notice management isn’t sending him to Cairo? Proving once again that coming out is bad for your career. Adam Lambert, Greg Louganis, that lesbian country singer…on and on…careers and endorsements gone instantly by coming out.

@stadacona: The situation in Cairo is so volatile that it makes no sense for “management” to send him there when they already have people on the ground there that are undoubtedly more qualified to handle this particular story. Once upon a time that would have been Christiane Amanpour but I don’t see ABC rushing her off into the maelstrom.
As for Anderson himself, with that giggle no closet was ever going to be convincing. His reactions to Kathy Griffin were a continual “coming out” when they were within 20 feet of each other. He’s a nice guy and I wish him nothing but the best.
