I really find it interesting on how everyone looks through PROP 8 glasses now. I do not and will not hate someone because they did not donate. I will take to task anyone who wants to take my rights away but I will not go after someone who has not even publicly come out of the proverbial closet. He is a journalist and as such needs to be neutral (I know that is hard to comprehend in the days of CNN and FOX News). Would his donation have made a difference on a badly run NO campaign by people that decided it was more important to take vacations then be there to fight? Where do you draw the line?

Where do I draw the line? Just because I said he should remain neutral doesn’t mean I said he couldn’t report on the issues. A journalist…if you have forgotten…reports the news. Whether the sway of the article is dependent on his or hers own personal views can be left up for debate. But journalism is reporting the news. Because he is (or isn’t) gay doesn’t mean he should be prancing around like some queen derailing what he may or may not think is his cause. Leave that to the politicians and people that decide to join the political process.
Furthermore, I find it in bad taste everyone who brings out the Nazi card because when you hate so much to bring that out, then you are no better then they were. That was a horrible time and many horrible things happened. Don’t even dare try to compare that to your case. I do not see people being lead off to the gas chambers or shot en masse. Poster #5, Leland Frances, have you or many others ever stop to think that maybe CNN has different policy than what MSNBC has? Hilary Rosen freguently appears on CNN as a Democratic Strategist. She has recently even been on CNN to discuss Prop 8 during The Situation Room and never once did she mention in that discussion that she herself is gay and was in a long term committed relationship with the former head of HRC (Elizabeth Birth) and that they even had adopted a couple of children. So, maybe there is a different policy on CNN about journalist or commenters being able to disclose their orientation publicly on their airwaves?

Regarding AC, no he doesn’t have an “obligation” to come out, but because he is a figure in the public eye, coming out publicly (because let’s face it, his sexual orientation is an open secret) gives one more face to gay america and helps us all be identified as people, not some abstract idea.
