From the “Still Got It” Department: Angela Lansbury is always in style, a fact she keenly demonstrated during a special 25th Anniversary screening of “Beauty and the Beast” at Lincoln Center on Sunday.

Now 90, the original voice of Mrs. Potts belted the Disney classic’s theme song alongside the film’s original composer Alan Menken on piano. The results are as artful and delightful as ever, with Lansbury hitting every note with ease, her trills and vocal stylings effortlessly transforming the crowd into quivering puddles of sobbing, spluttering jelly.

This is the Angela Lansbury that I will always remember. By the way, she is ailing these days. Not too long ago she fainted during a Broadway tribute to James Earl Jones and had to leave.

Very impressive considering her age. Bravo!

@Bob LaBlah:
She fainted? Did she have “pneumonia” as well. 🙂

@Alistair Wiseman: Thats not funny. She was robbed playing the title in the movie Mame thanks to the producers of the movie believing Lucille Ball was a bigger draw. The movie was so horrible Lucille Balled announced it was her last theatrical movie. Even costar Bea Arthur (Maude, Dorothy) went to the producers during filming and tried to convince them Ball was miscast and to PLEASE bring in Lansbury. The producers said no because they believed Ball would be a bigger draw. How wrong they were.

I swear, there’s something about her that’s actually gotten younger over time.

@Alistair Wiseman: you are truly pathetic.
