This year, Laverne Cox became the first trans woman to be featured on the cover of Time magazine. And now she is officially also the first trans woman to ever win the Queerties Award for “Badass of the Year.” So what it’s also the first time the award has ever been given? We aren’t keeping score.
We are keeping score of the results of your votes, though. And by the looks of it, 2014 will go down as a year to remember. Michael Sam may not have suited up in a pro football game yet, but that didn’t stop him from winning two Queerties for “Top Jock” and “Closet Door Bustdown.”
Other notable victors this year are Ellen’s Gardner who had the “Hottest Nude Selfie Leak,” Conchita Wurst for being a diva on the rise, and Sam Smith for sticking in our ears all summer.

Most of mine won. But the voting was a farce. For 3 days everytime you click on the article to vote, you got an AT&T ad. Queerty just picks who they want. So that’s the last contest for me, this one proved it was rigged.
