Love wins

Anthony Rapp’s engagement shoot photos have just gone online

Star Trek actor Anthony Rapp and fiancé Ken Ithiphol have shared a photo from their engagement shoot.

Posting to Instagram and Twitter, Rapp said, “As you know, I’m marrying this wonderful, beautiful man. Thank you @colagrossico for taking such good care of us on our engagement shoot.”

The photo, in which the men stare into one another’s eyes, was shot in New York City.

On Twitter, Rapp said, “Wanted to share this photo from our engagement shoot. I’m feeling pretty damn lucky.”

The photography duo, Colagrossi & Co., also shared further images of the shoot on their own Instagram.

On their website, Savanna, one half of Colagrossi & Co., offered more details about the shoot: “Last month, Mitch and I had the honor of capturing Ken and Anthony Rapp‘s engagement in New York City.

She said she knew Ithiphol from when they’d both trained in yoga a few years ago in Redondo Beach, CA. “We both moved to new places, but when I saw he was engaged to Anthony I had to reach out.

She and her partner were excited to meet Anthony, and “he couldn’t have been more kind, delightful and down to earth.

“Behind the photos was Anthony breaking out into random song (the best kind), many laughs and meaningful, heartfelt kisses,” she continued.

“They have a passion that even we were only able to capture a glimpse of, as their love is so much more genuine and intense than what can be documented through photography alone.

“He and Ken both have such a sweet, funny, affectionate nature between the two of them. I think maybe that was our biggest takeaway from our time with them. To hell with constraint, with hiding emotions for the sake of social niceties. Ken and Anthony are who they want to be with each other, unapologetically, and we admire that beyond words.

The two men have been together since January 2016. Rapp proposed to Ithiphol, a leadership coach, social researcher and advocate, last November during a trip to Toronto. Rapp got down on one knee in front of Ithiphol and friends at a party.

A few weeks ago, Ithiphol shared a fan drawing of the moment.

Rapp, 48, has been acting since childhood. He is best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in the Broadway production of Rent, which he reprised on TV.

He reached a whole new audience playing Lieutenant Commander Paul Stamets on the television series Star Trek: Discovery.

Alongside costar Wilson Cruz, Rapp plays one half of the first gay couple in the Star Trek universe. The actor came out as queer in the mid-90s.

Rapp and Ithiphol have not publicly announced when their wedding will take place.
