Arnold Schwarzenegger ain’t making friends among California’s religious conservatives. A number of right wing blow hards are “appalled” that the Governor signed SB-77, which protects students against anti-discrimination. Says Capitol Resource Institute executive director Karen England,
We are shocked and appalled that the governor has blatantly attacked traditional family values in California. With this decision, Governor Schwarzenegger has told parents that their values are irrelevant. Many parents will have no choice but to pull their children out of the public schools that have now become sexualized indoctrination centers.
In an effort to withhold protections from all children – gay or straight – the Sacramento-based Capitol Resource Family Impact filed a referendum pushing for a legislative reversal. California Catholic Daily reports:
[The group] announced yesterday that it has filed a referendum with the state attorney general’s office. Capitol Resource Family Impact will have little over 90 days to collect the required number of signatures to qualify the referendum for the ballot once the attorney general provides a summary and title for the measure to be presented to California voters in petitions.
So, these “family values” voters would rather have their children taunted by homophobic bullies than stretch their political imaginations? What’s wrong with this picture?

Arnold is a fairly well-known homosexual from Venice beach to Hollywood. At least among those with a brain.

Never stop using that picture when posting about Arnold. Please. It makes me so happy.

Why are Christians so upset by this bill? Because they will no longer be allowed to verbally abuse and harass their fellow man? Hardly a Christian attitude, is it? I am shock by how “Love thy neighbor” has been replaced by “God hates fags” as the words most frequently associated with Christianity. So are a lot of other Americans, both non-Christian and Christian, as evidenced by the recent Barna survey. I have no doubt that Jesus would be very angry to find out that his so-called followers have sunk to such low depths. Fifty years ago, Catholics were busy building schools, colleges, hospitals and soup kitchens. Now, all they do is whine about how “hostile” the younger generation has become toward them, all the while heaping abuse upon innocent gay men and lesbians who just want to be left in peace. Worse yet, they try to justify themselves by invoking the name of Jesus. Blasphemy of the most distasteful sort.

anyone have Karen England’s home phone, address or e-mail – sounds like she could use about 300 pizza’s delivered.
