Cowboy orgies have officially entered the political discourse.
In what’s been branded the #RamRanchResistance, an explicit metal song about horny cowboys is being used to troll anti-vax truck drivers in Canada.
In January, thousands of truckers rolled into Ottawa to protest vaccine mandates for cross-border truck drivers. Hundreds of drivers calling themselves the “freedom convoy” remain encamped in the city’s downtown core, disrupting daily life for residents.
Now the so-called “freedom convoy” is being bombarded with Grant MacDonald’s 2012 song, “Ram Ranch.” Counterprotesters have infiltrated the group’s chat on walkie-talkie app Zello and are blasting the track.
According to Katarina, a PhD student at a university in Ottawa and one of the leaders of the #RamRanchResistance, life in Ottawa since the convoy rolled in has “been hell.”
“We’re watching the destruction of property, harassment, people getting up in locals’ faces and telling them to take their masks off,” she told Rolling Stone.
“It’s a deeply conservative belief system infiltrating our city,” she added. “And when we played this song to jam their communication, they’d get extremely angry because it’s an explicit and LGBTQ-friendly song.”
Singer Grant MacDonald, who told the magazine he recorded the song “to get back at the homophobia of Nashville”, is “elated, totally elated that my song could be used to stand up for science.”
Here’s the full, work-unfriendly song that protesters may know by heart at this point:
Chrisk
Excellent and I’ll bet more then a few of these “freedom riders” secretly loved it.
Cam
It’s like when the K-Pop stans were wrecking the Trump rallies. lol
SamB
So childish. I’ve seen on the street vids and unlike riots in the US, these protesters were MOSTLY polite, clean, and non-aggressive. These people are calling the protestors “gay” for having an opinion different than their own, isn’t that homophobia??
Caine
OK Madison C. we know it is you all up in arms over the naked cowboys. That song is hysterically funny.
stafcoyote
Barbarians, on entering a civilized space, usually are polite at first encounter. That politeness wears off when their So-called leaders begin to call the shots. Anyone who believes, or who preaches, that the so-called truckers in Ottawa were being polite is either tragically misinformed, or is a traitor.
SamB
Stafcoyote: Just pretending you know better doesn’t make you right. You’re absolutely, 100% incorrect. The arrogance of your statement is that you position yourself as better than “so-called” truckers. What does that mean? You doubt they are truckers? Or are truckers so beneath your regal air, that you can’t stand to even think about them as humans?
Kevan1
@SamB I call B.S. on you and that right wing troll crap. Russia is calling for you.
Rikki Roze
Anyone else remember a country and western song in the early 70’s called “There Wouldn’t Be No Truck Drivers if it Wasn’t for Us Trucks”? A group of trucks sang the chorus. It was released around the same time that “Red Necks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer” was popular, (where else?) in Texas.

So, both these truckers and BLM are accused of similar things. So let’s see: BLM protests are for progress, and in the name of justice. This trucker nonsense is for spreading medical misinformation and threatening people observing safety precautions during a plague, and done in support of the lies of the leadership of the far right…
So, of COURSE the anti-vax, ‘muh freedums!!’, MAGAt gangs of white, cishet men doing violence and disrupting businesses and impeding traffic is FINE, being called ‘patriotic’ and ‘heroic’ by certain people…but the SECOND anyone wants progress and/or justice, they’re ‘violent thugs’ who want to ‘burn everything down’ to those SAME people.
But sure…there’s no such thing as institutional racism…
SamB
None of the truckers are burning multiple neighborhoods. There is a big difference between rioting and protesting.

Nailed it!

SamB: The truckers’ blockade that hindered traffic at border crossings between the United States and Canada cost more than $500 million in commerce EACH DAY.
The truckers’ blockade wasn’t a “protest”. It was a deliberate disruption of the supply chain and an illegal act of sabotage.
But they were “polite” and “clean” so, it appears you want to portray them as righteous, despite all the financial harm they caused.
I’m not buying your argument, no matter how enthusiastically you wish to sell it.
SamB
Henreid: Just like a strike at a factory disrupts productions and may cause some financial losses for the company. You support strikes? Your figures are for the dollar value of goods going across the borders not for actual money lost, once the good start moving again, they money will be recouped.
Henreid

The National Labor Relations Act states in part, “Employees shall have the right. . . to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection.” Strikes are included among the concerted activities protected for employees…”
The National Labor Relations Act also outlines what are legal and illegal strikes.
There is NO law that protects the supposed right you are trying to assert for individuals to block international avenues of travel and commerce. That is a criminal act.
You cannot claim that these two endeavors are equivalent. They are not.

@SamB: thank you for proving my point.
It’s good to know that for some, misinformation that supports cultural bias will always win over relevant facts. As someone whose city apparently ‘burned to the ground’ thanks to ‘BLM and ANTIFA’ in the ‘race riots’ of the last year, you’d think I would know how horrible it is that my city where I live and work is gone, according to the right wing media. Uppity blacks and their hooligan masters/puppets (has Fox decided if liberals are the scariest thing ever or the weakest? They keep flip-flopping, so I can never keep straight whether I’m a walking nightmare of terrible power who can defeat God by cheating his Chosen President or a weakling to make cry librul tears…) supposedly burned Portland to the ground. Tucker Carlson regularly mentions us in his breathlessly racist dog whistle show, but yet…I still live here, work here, drive the roads, spend time downtown, and…whattayaknow…not on fire…not burned down.
It’s ALMOST like racists are using racial justice demonstrations (and misrepresenting anti-kettling tactics as ‘the goal’ because they know middle aged white men can’t be bothered to inconvenience themselves enough to research things that don’t feed their confirmation bias…) as an excuse to rile up dumb, angry white men to threaten their own Vice President (and the health of everyone around them), attempt an insurrection, and continue worshipping Dear Leader and his vile, selfish message of hateful ignorance and ‘American exceptionalism’ in order to keep them distracted from the rich racists picking their pockets!?
Just like they did in the Civil War?!
And just like Nixon (and the GOP ever since) did with the Southern Strategy?!
SamB
Henreid: I’m assuming your Canadian. This is from the Ontario Federation of Labour: The right to protest and conduct picket activity is legal and protected under ss. 2(b) and 2(c) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which guarantees freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly. … YOUR RIGHT TO PROTEST IS PROTECTED BY THE CANADIAN CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS.
About the only thing the charter does not protect protestors from inciting hated, which the truckers have NOT, despite Trudeau claiming they are. All you have to do is watch HOURS and HOURS of footage to see the truckers are just there so they can literally go back to work.
Josh: Burning whole neighborhoods is not the same as a protest to stop vaccine/mask mandates, it’s not racist of me to say that.
Henreid
SamB: You still have not cited any Canadian law that grants citizens the right to block international highways. Prime Minister Trudeau himself said that by ending the blockade the Canadian government is not overriding the charter of rights and freedoms, nor limiting the right to peaceful assembly. “We are not preventing people from exercising their right to protest legally,” he added.
SamB
Henreid: He’s using loopholes. He’s ignored the protesters, run away from them pretending to be sick… He’s been walking out of Parliament routinely so he doesn’t have to hear any opposition. But he’s getting it from within his own party now.. how many liberal MP’s have stated they don’t agree with him? I’m sure there will be more. Doug Ford, Ontario Premier has stated he doesn’t agree with Trudeau’s mandates and he said he is TIRED of all this… and the people are tired of all this…. and he said most of the people who want to open the province know the risks and will take appropriate measures if they’re at risk. I think this trucker protest is going to help with that.
Henreid
SamB: You seem to have adopted the attitude that “The ends justify the means” in this situation, even though the truckers committed a crime as their “means” of forcing their will upon the people and the government of Canada – while blocking free trade with businesses in the United States, who have NOTHING to do with the truckers’ grievances in Canada. I have never endorsed illegal coercion as a legitimate form of protest, and I never will. That is the reason I cannot agree with you. If I were Prime Minister Trudeau I would have arrested those lawbreakers and impounded their trucks on the FIRST DAY of the blockade.
SamB
Henreid: What you’re talking about is called Fascism. Silence the opposition. Destroy them. Put those with different opinions into re-education camps. Where does it stop? Canada and the US put Japanese citizens in camps as a safety measure… where does it stop? The tax paying and law abiding citizens of a country can protest for change. That is not illegal nor immoral. Even the CDC is now saying masks are not effective… there needs to be a change, get back to some normalcy, are you happy being vaccinated 2 or 3 times (i have 3!) and still not being able to walk around without a mask?
Henreid
I have simply pointed out your double standard: You can’t condemn criminal political activism in the United States while condoning criminal political activism in Canada. I have also advocated, time after time in this discussion, for upholding the rule of law, yet somehow you have twisted the idea that if a democracy like Canada enforces the law it becomes an example of fascism.
I get it – you’re against the current mask mandates in Canada. Don’t expect the rest of us to agree with you that illegally blockading trade between two nations is in any way a legitimate form of protest for you and your fellow anti-maskers to change public policy in Canada.
tjack47
That was the most godawful noise.
jeff1370
You’re right sam B. The truckers ARE rioting not protesting.
Fahd
This is funny. These cross border truckers make big money. Just get vaccinated!
I hope the truckers don’t run out of gas to run their heaters.
I don’t know why gay people always have to be on the front line of protecting civil rights. Taking over their electronic chat sure beats standing in the Ottawa cold, yelling “We’re queer, we’re here, get used to it”.
SamB
How much do they make?
armpit44
This brings being Rick Ross’d to a new, lower level.

give Buckelroos 2 a watch for some cowboys and twinky action. love those mormons at the door.

Oh, man, that was a great scene in so many ways!
