Antigay activist and Christian extremist Scott Lively appears to be up shit creek and in desperate need of a paddle… and some Benjamin Franklins.
In a new memo sent to his dwindling list of supporters, many of whom he insinuates are dying from old age, the founder of Abiding Truth Ministries begs for financial assistance as he struggles to keep his hate organization afloat while simultaneously fighting charges of crimes against humanity.

As you may remember, Lively was one of the leading voices behind Uganda’s infamous “Kill the Gays” bill in 2009 that sought to arrest and murder gay people in the African country.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
In 2012, a federal lawsuit was filed against Lively accusing him of violating international law by promoting the genocide of Uganda’s gay population. Lively called the lawsuit “ridiculous” and tried several times to have it thrown out. Now, after officially exhausting all of his options, the case is going to trial and so he’s seeking help from his fellow gay-hating Christians.

“My friends, SMUG v Lively is truly a David v Goliath battle,” the memo begins. “I’m running a one-man office on a shoestring budget of less than $120,000 per year, provided almost entirely by donations of $50 and $100 from average people.”
He then goes on to say that the majority of his supporters are “mostly elderly” and won’t be around much longer. Not only that, but he’s having extreme “difficulty” reaching new followers “due to the success of the anti-Lively propaganda.”

“Frankly, I question whether [Abiding Truth Ministries] will survive the decade without greater support from the individuals scattered across the society who recognize the danger of the LGBT agenda and are willing to stand with us financially against it,” the memo continues.
In another letter, Lively claims he has “paid a heavy price for the authority with which I speak, and I urge you to give credence to my testimony.”
“Let us all pray,” Lively concludes, “that 2016 will be the year when the LGBT global campaign to homosexualize the world will finally be turned back.”

The difference between Fundamentalist Christians in America and fundamentalist Muslims in the Middle East is that Christian shame and persecute gay people into committing suicide rather than taking a hands on approach; make no mistake if Christians in America for one second thought they could get away with throwing gays off buildings like ISIS does; it would truly be raining men in San Francisco.

RELIGION, STUPIDITY, HAPPIEST NATIONS, BLASPHEMOUS RUMORS
I just understand these religious nuts — or religious people, in general. I mean, if your cause is righteous and just, wouldn’t your god provide with the resources to accomplish your goals? If not, then what is the point of praying? And what is the point of a omnipotent, omniscient and JUST god? Indeed, why would god even put you through these travails? (and no, the tired old “Free Will” argument doesn’t work, but that’s another debate for another forum).
As an aside, I reluctantly chuckle when the Bible Belt — where the most religious of Americans live — get hit by floods and tornadoes YEAR AFTER YEAR, while we sinful liberal Northeaster are spared. Again, let me stress, YEAR AFTER YEAR. Heck, we see this globally. Religious African nations are hit by famine, drought, disease, etc, not to mention the annual hurricanes targeting religious Haiti and the Philippines, while atheist Scandinavia is spared. In fact, Scandinavia enjoy some of the best health and stability anywhere, despite some surveys showing that >80% are nonbelievers. The Scandinavian countries consistently rank among the Top 10 Happiest nations, based on international criteria like health, wealth, stress, etc. I remember an Oprah episode on women of the world, where a Danish woman had the chutzpah to ask Oprah, “Isn’t it ironic how we don’t need religion to be happy?” Denmark, of course, has been #1 Happiest Nation more than any other nation. I should also point out that our neighbor, Canada, is also up there despite — or perhaps, BECAUSE OF — being the 4th country to have same-sex marriage (Spain beat them to #3 by a matter of days)! These non-judgmental gay-friendly nations confirm my belief that being accepting of others bring happiness. And conversely, if you’re happy with yourself, you don’t need to condemn others to affirm your own existence.
IN 2015, the 10 Happiest Nations were: Switzerland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Canada, Finland, Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia. I believe only Switzerland and Australia don’t perform same-sex marriage, but they are gay friendly and recognize gay unions. In the case of homosexuality, ignorance is NOT bliss. Quite the opposite is true!

And no, I don’t chuckle because of the destruction. I do so because of the sad irony that the most religious regions are being hit by “Acts of God” — and the stupidity of people to keep on believing. It brings to mind the Depeche Mode song, “Blasphemous Rumors”: “I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumors / But I think that God has a sick sense of humor / And when I die / I expect to find him laughing.”

There is a possibility he potentially broke the neutrality act of 1794. While the act is only specifically prohibits US citizens launching a war on other nations, advocating policy that could harm foreigners and possibly get them killed is perhaps seen as a violation of this act.
If you are a US Citizen and you actively craft and support a policy in a different country that leads to the murder of people in that country, you should be charged and possibly imprisioned.

Silver lining, the guand his hate machine are broke, his supporters are getting old as in soon will be dead.
And more importantly is getting sue from a gay group from an affrican nation, and that is super important because it set a precedent, and that is the only thing these mentally diseased bigots understand, legal fees, jail time and or paying fines.
Trow the mentally disease anti gay bigot in jail and trow away the key!

@Realitycheck: I wonder if he’s truly broke. I truly believe that many, if not most, evangelical groups cook the cooks to look a lot poorer than they really are. Indeed, all religious groups are financially unethical, in my opinion, for being tax exempt — especially since they’re free to make profitable investments. For example, I bet Scientology, The Mormon Church, The Catholic Church, and many mega-churches, etc have a higher income than many small nations. Despite delving into commerce and business, they demand the right to ignore various business laws on the grounds of “Religious Freedom.” For example, religious organizations want the right to hire and fire on the basis of sexual orientation and gender, despite the latter being federally-protected. For example, The Salvation Army has an income of $4.1 Billion and assets of >$11 Billion, making them wealthier than many nations. And The Mormon Church has an $8 Billion income from tithing alone (that doesn’t include investments, etc!), with a total worth of $40 Billion. For comparison, Liberia has a GDP of $2 Billion. At least the Salvation Army does charitable works. There are no such requirements for churches since preaching, in of itself, is considered charitable. And they’re all free to preach hate.

One of Scotty’s biggest problems is his total lack of tech skills. He relies on donations, with most of his suckers being older folks, via snail mail. So, the best thing to do is to sign up for his mailings. Postage, even at the vastly reduced rate for non-profits, for a couple thousand new “potential” donors would quickly eat up whatever portion of the $120,000 operating budget Lively hasn’t designated as his salary. When those initial mailed begs for money fail to produce any revenue Scott will either send out yet another costly plea for money or he’ll be totally busted financially, fold his tent and go home. He’s basically out of business already as all of his money is going toward legal representation and Ithink most of his donors have finally wished up to the fact that they’ve been wasting their money all along.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
This all things Gay obsessed vile abhorrent prick is facing the same delicious dilema most of these nutbag organizations are facing. The hatefilled ignorant bigoted relics are dying off and the younger generations are too damm smart to fall for the noxious dogma Lively and his ill ilk have been spewing for decades…………..
I do think however I will send him a dollar donation, after I wipe my ass with it….:-p

@Bryguyf69: “Scandinavian countries consistently rank among the Top 10 Happiest nations, based on international criteria like health, wealth, stress, etc.”
Interesting the correlation between religion and happy healthy people. Like there always on opposite sides. The irony is that the countries with the most Atheists are the most Christlike as in helping and caring for one another. Countries like say Uganda has more in common with hell.
Bryguyf69
@Stache: Absolutely. Sweden, in particular, is amazing. At one point, they took in more refugees resulting from Bush’s wars than any other country, including the US. And they led the charge against Uganda, when it wanted to institute the death penalty for homosexuality. The threat of withholding aid finally convinced them to shelve the law.
Note that I’m not saying religious people are less healthy. Indeed, studies show that religiosity increases health and lifespan. But that’s due to the calming aspect of spirituality. Being hateful and judgmental — especially when you see the world trending against your beliefs (as in attitudes toward gays)– is clearly stressful and damaging.
Stache
@mcflyer54: “they’ve been wasting their money all along.”
That’s the best perk for religious organizations. No one ever comes back from the dead to bust their asses as the frauds they are.
