If you thought you’d seen the last of Kim Davis, wait until you get a load of the Kim Davis clones that are coming next year.
The law firm that took advantage of Kim to elevate their name, Liberty Counsel, has been hard at work on preparing somewhere around two dozen anti-gay bills through legislatures around the country. The group just sent out a donation-beg to support their work: “Liberty Counsel is working pro bono with 22 different states in fighting the outrageous ‘bathroom’ movement,” they say.

That means you haven’t heard the last of the lies about “men in the women’s room.” And because Liberty Counsel is rabidly anti-gay, they’re probably also working on more of those turn-away-the-gays bills, which they call “religious freedom restoration acts.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
The country’s been so distracted by the Donald Trump sideshow for the last few months, you might even have forgotten that those bills were even a thing. But they are, and they’re only going to expand. Anti-gay activists have been scheming to roll back nondiscrimination ordinances at the local level, to pass turn-away-the-gays at state levels, and they have a federal version that Donald Trump has promised to sign. (Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, has pledged to sign a nondiscrimination bill — just in case you were still unsure about which candidate is on your side.)

So what’s to be done about this? It’s hard to say. We could stand to see a massive reduction in LGBT equality, particularly in the south. Despite having lost (mostly) on the Kim Davis case, Liberty Counsel is as dangerous as the National Organization for Marriage used to be, and there’s no clear strategy in place for fighting back.

One mosquito is annoying, a swarm is a contender. The higher court needs to step in and put an end to this oppression and harassment. Other peoples’ revered beliefs are steering our destiny. They use the government and courts as their vehicle. The precedent set will be dangerous. We shall not be burdened by the beliefs of others.

@1EqualityUSA:
If we must die, let it not be like hogs
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,
While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,
Making their mock at our accursed lot.
If we must die, O let us nobly die
So that our precious blood may not be shed
In vain; then even the monsters we defy
Shall be constrained to honor us though dead!
O kinsmen! We must meet the common foe!
Though far outnumbered let us show us brave,
And for their thousand blows deal one death blow!
What though before us lies the open grave?
Like men we’ll face the murderous, cowardly pack,
Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back!

The Constitution will have us wash our swords in the Sea, legally speaking. The church will be strengthened, once free of political burden. Neither potentiate either.

“inglorious spot” that’s my house today, if I don’t get hopping, Bauhaus.

So, the very same people who are terrified that a (straight) guy might masquerade as a woman to ogle women in the restroom are totally cool with electing a man who ogles women (and underage girls) in their dressing rooms, and grabs them by lady bits? That’s consistent.

@1EqualityUSA:
“They use the government and courts as their vehicle.”
You mean like how the “government and courts” were used as a “vehicle” to pass gay marriage despite the will of the people at that time?
Bad Ass Biker
@James: Excellent comment!

I wonder have the proponents of this bathroom b/s realized now what a stinker this is going to be. Personally I do not want a woman (sexual orientation be damned) sitting in the stall next to mine when there is a designated bathroom for vaginas. The same goes for those who KNOW nature meant for YOU to pee standing up. Its just that simple.

@Bob LaBlah:
Bob! You intolerant mouth breather! 🙂
blackout_boycott
We don’t have to be lawyers to fight this! Our knowledge from the past centuries has been when church takes over state, nothing good about having Equality will last. All rights of LGBT community’s is in great need, do not give up, and fight for your rights.
We are who we are, no one can change that!

Alister, our case was legitimate. Politically entwined religion coerces.

In fact they have, and clearly understand the issues better than you do. Female-to-male transsexuals are men regardless of how you or anyone else chooses to see them. Are most gay men predators on children just because the majority of the far right chooses to see us that way? And are you really that scared of vaginas?
As for the humorous statement on how “mature meant us” to pee, that is (if one understands biology, evolution and thus nature) simply an artifact of a non-retractable penis. Higher primates do not use urine to mark territory or communicate as other mammals. We use phermones produced by other parts of the body. I realize facts are of little use to the right, but that does not make them any less real, nor you any less wrong.

“Higher primates do not use urine to mark territory…” clearly you’ve never walked Fort Funston.

One more reason to vote for Cinton, retake the senate and liberal judges on SCOTUS, spread the word, turnout is key.
With big turn outs we democrats win! No matter where you live, make sure everyone votes and don’t stay home thinking other will vote for you.

@James: Being consistent is not even in their working lexicon. Liberty Counsel is a hive of hate-filled homo haters, the bulk of which I suspect are queers in denial. Give the fact they are located in the white supremacist heterosexist South, they likely also are inbred.

Have you ever heard of chromosomes? Have you ever heard of facts?
XX chromosomes = female
XY chromosomes = male
This is a biological FACT. No amount of surgery, hormones or leftist PC bullshit will ever change that fact.
(dwes09, do you ever get anything right in your posts?)

What up, Alistair? You afraid your voice is going to go high, should you come within a foot tap away from XX’s?

We just need a third bathroom added for trans. I don’t want to share a public restroom with a woman, and it seems women don’t want to share a public bathroom with men, and I for one don’t really want to share a restroom with a woman pretending to be a man, so make every public place offer three restrooms, a men’s, a women’s, and one for trans.

@Alistair Wiseman:
” Have you ever heard of chromosomes? Have you ever heard of facts?

Nope. It’s a good approximation. Only 1 in 300 men aren’t 46,XY. Only half a million in the USA.
Some women are though. It’s rare, but not outrageously so. Sometimes, so are the daughters they give birth to, as here:
J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2008 Jan;93(1):182-9
A 46,XY mother who developed as a normal woman underwent spontaneous puberty, reached menarche, menstruated regularly, experienced two unassisted pregnancies, and gave birth to a 46,XY daughter with complete gonadal dysgenesis.
Please don’t use your biological ignorance to try to justify bigotry. We get enough of that from the Religious Right.

@Alistair Wiseman: If the will of the people did not want gay marriage in the states where their governments passed gay marriage they could have reversed it.

What’s the 911 here? History will show you that organized gay bashers ultimately regret their actions. Remember Anita Bryant?

These haters are focused on marginalizing our community and to take away our rights. This is serious business. We need to go on the offense and be prepared to take these low life bigots on with all our resources can provide.
What is being done to blunt the actions of these religious bigots seeking to harm us?

They are only interested in making money, so we need to make sure they lose money!

rbernard, Where the danger lies is when religion becomes fused with a political party. Oppression occurs when politics is used this way. The church is tainted by politics. Worldly ties, no faith in the Word. If they had faith in the Word, then it would suffice. Changing civil laws to reflect adamantly held beliefs of a sect, or church is futile. These laws will be overturned in time. Futility, using resources to create laws that will be seen as coercion. The GOP would have set precedence that will backfire in a century or less. Separation of Church and State needs to be revered, lest oppression coil ’round us. Let parishioners tithe and support their own. The government needs to severe financial support to any church dabbling in politics. The government needs to severe ties to any church. If the pastors, priests, and popes are talented enough to fill their pews, then those offerings, collected, are a blessing. How can one measure churches, if they are all funded by our tax dollars? Would it not be better to see if they can stand, by the words that that teach?
