Archie Comics Plays With Gender As Riverdale Gang Changes Sex

Archie Comics has been breaking new ground in recent years, introducing gay character Kevin Keller and then marrying him off to his military boyfriend in a what-if issue set in the future.

Now the not-just-for-kids comics company is tackling gender presentation in Archie #636, when a magic spell from Sabrina the teenage witch sees Archie and the boys of Riverdale turn into girls, while Betty, Veronica and the other girls transform into lads.

You’ll have to pick up the issue to see how far the comic delves into issues surrounding gender identity or whether Jughead takes the opportunity to come out as a hamburger loving lesbian, but we finally get what Archie sees in Betty and Veronica.

Or should that be Billy and Ronny?
