If Tom of Finland and Arabian Nights had a lovechild, it would look something like the work of Artqueerhabibi.
The artist, who chooses to remain anonymous out of safety concerns, uses his work to showcase diverse gender expressions and homoerotic love in the Arab world.

Speaking to Pink News recently, Artqueerhabibi says he wants to show the world that LGBTQ people do, in fact, exist in Arabic countries.
“I want to show the world that you can live in Arabian countries and be queer at the same time and there is nothing wrong with it,” he said, “because, in the end, love is a feeling which stands above every other in the world and experiencing it is just a miracle.”

I don’t come to your site very often, but when I do, I never fail
to be dumbstruck at the low level of news.
Your photos of the BOY who exposed himself at the Target store –
is this really what you are interested in, and is this yet another
confirmation that you guys are obsessed with filling column space,
regardless how low, ‘below the belt’ if you will excuse the intended PUN??
Get a grip on your agenda, and get out of the gutter for such tripe!!!!

Tripe to you is news to the majority of us. Perhaps your infrequent visits should progress to frequent absences, so that the rest of us could see the news… RobtheElder

These drawings are interesting enough, and appear aspirational in what they depict. Unfortunately, while there gay, bi and trans people all over the world, in Saudi Arabia, one of the countries he hashtags, the penalty for homosexuality in Saudi Arabia has long been death. After the US overthrew Saddam Hussein based on fake(d) intel, death squads began hunting gay men under the new regime in Iraq, another country’s this artist has hashtagged. Yes, Lebanon is different, and I have read about gay people in Palestine (and met gay Palestinians here in the US), but perhaps these images might better be framed by saying they show both the dreams and hidden worlds in many of the societies he’s hashtagging. Also, is the US government currently advocating for LGBTQ people in many of these countries, like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and UAE, which are close allies?

It is certainly encouraging that there is an artist brave enough to provide a visual outlet for some of the most repressed people on Earth. I hope that those of different persuasions realize that repression isn’t a cure. It just creates an ever increasing number of citizens who have a matter of contention with the power that currently is, that one day will be overthrown by the growing number of malcontents they themselves create, one person at a time… RobtheElder

I’m supporting this because the arab world has some serious issues with homophobia. That art is just okay though.
