Twenty-five gay activists have officially endorsed Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards.
Among the queer cheerleaders, readers will find Garden State Equality’s Jeff Gardner, Democratic strategist Mark Periello and Kerry-Edwards ’04 (tear) LGBT advisor, David Tseng.
Of all the sissie support, gay friendly Edwards says:
I am honored to have the support of so many well-respected LGBT leaders. They work hard every day to make our country a better place and I am proud to join with them to fight for equal rights for all Americans.
Edwards supports repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, strict hate crime laws and same-sex adoption. Sadly, he doesn’t endorse same-sex marriage.
How about we take this to the next level?

I received a call from the Edwards campaign trying to raise funds to help ensure a victory in the Iowa caucuses. I told them whereas I have voted for Sen. Edwards in the past and have not ruled out voting for him again, until he “crosses the bridge” and comes out in full support of marriage equality I could not see my way clear to spend my money on the candidate at this time. The caller’s response was “Oh the gay thing.” I said yes and told her to tell the Senator to start listening to the wonderful Elizabeth Edwards and their daughter on this issue. Then maybe I would donate.

John & Elizabeth have this scheme cooked up: John says he’s against it, while Elizabeth says she is for it, leaving open the probability that John will come around one day. Elizabeth has said that if John said he was for marriage equality, that would be the end of his candidacy. So, what you can take away from this charade is that John is secretly for it.

I believe I read this story here, but maybe not. I read John Edwards tensed up like a 2×4 during a campaign meeting when the issue of “gay marriage” came up.
Who knows whether this incident is true or not, but you certainly should not be labeling John Edwards as ‘gay-friendly’. At best he is ‘gay-ambivelant’. I’d be willing to bump him up to ‘gay-friendly’ if he got that thing on his lip removed.
