In an Instagram post showing her in a hospital bed with surgeons working above (below), Rose wrote:

“To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck… A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed… I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms… Thank you Dr Bray for everything you did and for allowing me to keep working and doing what I love. I am forever in your debt. And to anyone asking why I let them video it.. Did you not watch that Greys anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under.”

Rose’s superhero drama series will be the first-ever TV pilot led by an out lesbian comic book superhero. CW describes Batwoman thus:

“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Greg Berlanti will serve as the executive producer of the Batwoman pilot episode. Berlanti is the gay TV producer who directed the 2018 gay teen comedy film Love, Simon and produced the very queer supernatural 2018 Netflix drama The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Berlanti is married to former American pro-soccer player Robbie Rogers.
