Austrian singer Tom Neuwirth, who is better known as his bearded drag persona Conchita Wurst, has won the 2014 Eurovision contest, a popular European-wide song contest with contestants representing countries from across the continent.
Wurst, who was originally written off by conservative countries as being to provocative for the show, stunned the audience by singing the original song ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’ during the second semi-finals.. Her amazing vocal skills and accompanying imagery made the performance stand out from the competition. She even began to break down into tears at the end as the crowd erupted with cheers and applause. (Watch the full performance below!)
