Ben Carson May Want To Ban Gays In The Military…Again

Retired neurosurgeon and frontrunner for America’s first Zombie President Ben Carson has some typically regressive ideas when it comes to gays in the military.

Despite the fact that DADT repeal just hit the five-year mark and the fabric of the American military hasn’t collapsed, Ben Carson still wants to check the “evidence” to ensure that the decision to let gays and lesbians serve openly was the right one.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, a typically sluggish Carson sat next to his new campaign chairman Roger Dees (a retired major general) and offered his thoughts on the subject:

“One of the things that I learned in a long medical career is that you make decisions based on evidence, and not on ideology. So yes, I would be willing to sit down with people from both sides and examine the evidence and make decisions based on what the evidence shows,”

Certainly as a presidential candidate, Carson must be aware that DADT repeal was partially the result of an entire DoD working group that found there was a low risk of disruption by gays and lesbians serving openly and that it’s been working just fine for nearly five years. Perhaps all of his foreign policy experience gives him another perspective? Oh, wait. According to him:

“A lot of my foreign policy expertise is a result of spending time talking to him (Dees), as well as a variety of other sources.”

So, to sum it all up, Ben Carson has no foreign policy experience and his ideas come from the guy who’s against gays and lesbians serving openly.

That’s leadership. Never change, GOP.
