British rugby god Ben Cohen sashayed onto the floor for the first time on the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing this weekend, and we won’t say we told you so, but he probably should have fought a little harder to get that fancy male dancing partner.
Cohen made headlines earlier this month after he volunteered to be one half of the popular dancing show’s first same-sex couple opposite muscled ballroom dance professional Robin Windsor. He settled instead for his partner in the video above, Kristina Rihanoff, because she was “easier to pick up.”
But as always, settling for women could turn out to be a huge mistake. Though his debut cha-cha was full of bright smiles, wayward hips and a furry little patch of chest hair, it didn’t impress the judges and has landed him near the bottom of the star-studded lineup. None of this really matters, though, because as soon as he flashed the camera with that smile, he won life.
Thank you for all your lovely comments. I really enjoyed it. @KRihanoff was fantastic as always. @bbcstrictly @StandUpFdn

He tweeted some optimistic thank yous shortly after the show, obviously still reeling from infectious hip-sway.

Papi dances like a robot.
They should have let him dance with a dude instead.

@ouragannyc: I think most robots would be insulted by that comparison. He just can’t dance.
Tackle
As a dancer, he is very stiff and wooden. No rhythm whatsoever.

Still he looked nice in that red shirt.
