How about African-American actors wearing Kente cloth? Do those offend you too? Are you seriously saying that only certain groups can wear certain things? Are you advocating fashion discrimination?
Furthermore, you’re moralizing a look, as if to say that there is something inherently bad or embarrassing about S/M culture and leather harnesses (aside from PETA concerns). That’s not my culture (and in fact, in straight), and I’m not fond of Rippon’s outfit (except for its whimsy), but I’m not going to condemn him for wearing it.
Fashion is a form of SELF-expression. Why should your taste, politics and hangups dictate how others dress? You may want to make Rippon’s outfit into some grand cultural or sociological incident, but sometimes “a cigar is just a cigar.” THINK about it.
